Chapter 11 | Picnic

Jenn.

Why do i feel so bad? We barley even dated. I guess its just because he was the first guy who liked me....well Shawn was but.....i dont know.

I made it to my spot finally. As I saw the big open area where my rock was i saw Shawn sitting on the rock. I wipe off my tears and try to calm myself down. I walk over to Shawn trying to put a smile on my face.

"Hey.."

"Oh Jenn! Sorry ill leave if you want"

I sit right next to him. It was like the day he almost kissed me.

"My spot is your spot" I smile.

"Wow your eye are red and puffy, you ok?" He asked concerned.

"Uh yeah" I rub my eyes, "just family stuff" I lied.

"Are your parents fighting? Did you fight with them? Did they abuse you? Well of course they wouldn't but--" He said fast and really concerned.

"Shawn" I stop him.

He always wants me to know that he's there and I can trust him. Sounds like a perfect boyfriend. Im surprised he hasn't had one and likes me. Im wearing sweat pants and a over sized hoodie. Not exactly girlfriend material. Im surprised even Jake liked me. If he even did.

"Its not family problems" I admit.

"Then what is it?"

I went on saying the truth about Jake and what Matt saw yesterday.

"Jenn I'm so sorry!"

"Its not your fault"

"I didnt mean to make it look liked I was all over you"

"I know"

"I ruined your relationship" he muttered.

"No he had to look at those girls"

He puts his arm around me and i lay my head on his shoulder. We were just looking at the sunset through the trees and the reflection of the sun on the pond. It was nice and peaceful. I could have stayed here for the rest of my life.

Me and Shawn here the sound of trees moving and turn around.

"Hey guys!" Matt said with a picnic basket and a blanket in his hands.

"Whats that?" I say pointing to the basket.

"A picnic!" He walks a little and lays down the blanket and basket.

Me and Shawn sit on the blanket as Matt sets out the food. It all looked so amazing! He had sandwiches, sparkling cider, salad, cookies, fruit, and more.

"Damn Matt you can cook" Shawn said looking at all the food.

"I asked my mom to help me" he explained.

"So she made pretty much" i chuckle.

"Yeah" We all laugh.

I grab all the healthy stuff and some cider while the guys go crazy with protein and sugar.

"Come on Jenn at least have a cookie" Matt noticed my plate.

"Maybe later" which meant no in this situation.

I was always a bit of a health freak. Ill have my chips and cake every now and then but manly i stayed with my salads and protein shakes. Everyone gets a bit annoyed with it but they get over it.

After finishing stuffing our faces and throwing grapes at each other we started packing up.

"Thanks Matt" I gave him a hug.

"Any time girly" he smiled.

We all went our separate ways to get home. Today was pretty shitty at first but some how those boys know when im down and cheer me right back up again. I looked on my phone and saw Jake left a lot of messages.

Jake: Hey can we talk?

Jake: pls don't give me the silent treatment

Jake: look jenn I really truly like you

Jake: if you just let me explain

Jake: jenn?

I wasn't in the mood to talk to him. Jake is a player. Im just someone to add to his list. I was someone he would've broken up with in a week any way. This time I was the one to end it instead of him.
