Chap 3-

"Kate!"

17 year old Lanie walked up to her friend.

"Hey Lanie."

"Hey! You look so Amazing!"

"Thanks." Kate blushed and looked down.

"Rick's gonna go wild! Last time he saw you was just after school ended."

"Ya, we've all grown."

"Mmm hmm."

Kate smiled, She would admit she had changed, she no longer had braces, she was taller and fuller.

"I wonder what Rick's gonna look like!" Lanie asked.

"I don't know, how much can someone change over a few months though." Kate stated.

"True."

Kate and Lanie walked over to the lawn area where they heard loud noises.

They were shocked to see every single one of the popular girl next to a very.. handsome, muscular hot boy.

"Kate is that.."

"Rick." She breathed.

He had changed! He was taller!

Even more handsome and very muscular now.

The shirt he was wearing was wrapped around his large biceps.

Kate looked up and down his body.

He was definitely taller, he still wore dark jeans and his hightop red, Jordan's.

"Wow! I was wrong! He definitely changed!" Lanie exclaimed.

"Ya think?! He's like the most popular boy in school already!" Kate yelled.

"Well, he is so handsome!" Lanie said with a wink.

Kate watched as Meredith and Gina walk up to Rick, they were the 2 most popular girls in highschool.

Rick was talking to one of his football buddies, he barely even noticed them and Kate was kind of..grateful.

She mentally slapped herself, she had no right to be jealous! Rick was her best friend and that's all!

Right?

"Kate." Lanie said.

"Hmm?"

"You Ok?"

"ya." She nodded and walked off.

Lanie knew what was wrong, she was jealous, she wasn't surprised.

She always knew Kate and Rick would end up together.

"Excuse me ladies."

Rick fistbumbed his teammate's hand and walked off.

"Rick!" Lanie walked up.

"Hey Lanie! You look great."

"Thanks! You look..wow."

"Ugh thanks." He chuckled.

"Were you like working out all summer?!"

"Yep."

"Oh."

"Seen Kate?"

"She went that a'way."

"Thanks." He smiled and kissed her cheek.

"Mm hmm."

"Kate!"

Rick smiled and walked up the Kate at the lockers.

"Rick." She put on a fake smile.

"How are you?"

She noticed his voice changed, he was much more.. smooth."

"Ugh good."

"You look great."

"Thanks, wow so do you."

"I've been getting that all day." He joked.

"I bet." She said much more sharply than she meant.

"Whoa, did I do something?"

"Oh, I don't know, maybe I had to see all those girls drooling over you."

"I didn't ask them to come! I was minding my own business! Talking to Brian!"

Suddenly Kate teared up and ran off.

Rick didn't go after her because he was mad, he didn't do anything wrong! Why was she so upset.

"Yo! Rick!"

He soon forgot about Kate and turned around.

"Hey Javi."

"Senior year man! Last year of highschool! And then it's college!"

"Ya!"

"So Lanie tells me you're quite popular.. Well even more."

"Oh ya, I guess."

Javi laughed and opened his locker.

"Talked to Kevin?"

"Ya, he said the nuns are even more mean this year."

Rick laughed a bit and closed his locker. Kevin's parent's had sent him to Catholic school 3 years ago, they still were best friends though.

"He'll be in college with us."

"Yep."

"You ok man?"

"Err ya, Kate's just acting weird."

"She's a girl."

"True." he laughed and began walking to his first class.

"You gonna be on the team this year?" Javi asked.

"Of course, me and you make the team, Me as the QB, You as my running back."

He fistbumped Javi and winked.

"True man, true."

"Come on, we had better hurry, Mrs. Stiles isn't very nice."

He laughed and opened the classroom door.

"Got that right."

Kate knew she was acting childish.

She tried to deny it over and over but the truth was she had fallen in love with her best friend.

She was always too scared to tell him though.

Lanie walked up to the tree where Kate was quietly sitting.

"Hey girl."

"Hey Lane." She sighed.

"You Ok?"

"I guess."

"Talk to me."

Kate sniffed and looked up.

"Lanie."

"Yes?"

"I'm..I'm in love with Rick."

Lanie squealed and smile. "Hallelujah!"
