Kate was confused by Lanie's outburst.
"Lanie?"
"Sweetie! We've known you're in love with him!"
"How?"
"We just do, now you have to go tell him."
"What! No!!"
"Why?"
"He doesn't feel the same way."
"Ha!" Lanie laughed.
"Girl, the guy is crazy about you!"
"No he's not."
"Kate! I'ma smack some sense into you if you don't realize he's madly in love with you!"
"But.."
"No but's! Go talk to him!"
"Fine." She sighed and stood up.
Lanie gave her a shove and nodded.
"Go on."
"Ok." She took a deep breath and walked off.

Rick was in football practice when Kate walked up.
"Rick."
He was still upset with her.
"I'm busy Kate, Will go long!" He threw the football.
"I really need to talk to you."
He sighed and rubbed his sweaty forehead.
"Alright, just a few minutes."
"Thanks."
"Guys! Get some water."
He gently took Kate's arm and walked her to the bleachers.
"So what's up?"
She took a deep breath and played with her fingers.
