Morning Break.

7:15 AM

Today the sky looked gloomier than usual, with grey clouds and the tree leaves withering and falling. Autumn was coming, I disliked this season most of all, while everyone I met loved it because of the colors that all looked the same to me, I couldn't help but find it... annoying. The cold weather was never cold enough for me to wear scarves or anything like it and the Halloween decorations are just tacky. I hate all the decorations on every holiday, but this one is especially annoying to me.

I walked inside my classroom and let out a yawn as I made my way to my row. I was startled by a sudden loud noise; I turned around and saw Mikaela walked back to her desk after throwing something in the trash can. At the same time, our classmates laughed, and Aaron's friends pushed him around jokingly while he stared at the trash can, and all the pieces started to come together. I glanced over at the Yuki sisters. Mikaela, as always, was neutral about the whole situation, and Karina, surprisingly, didn't scold her for throwing away a gift.

After a few morning announcements, Mr. Clark congratulated the students who scored highest in our previous assignment. Mikala and I were announced first, with 90 points, she obviously scored those points.

"That will be all, get with your partner and start working," said Mr. Clark

"Morning Yuki," I smiled and took my seat next to her, "We scored highest in our class, I told you to not worry,"

She didn't acknowledge me. I tilted my head to see if she was wearing earbuds, but her hair was on the way. I reached out to her but stopped as soon as I realized what the hell I was even attempting. I closed my fist and quickly moved away.

"Ahem, did you hear me?" I cleared my throat and continued while making a joke, "We scored highest, shouldn't you be so happy to be my partner for Algebra?"

Again, no response, not even the slightest movement. She was as stiff as a board. I frowned and lay down on the desk. She's ignoring me...

"Now where's your smart answer!" I glared and pointed at her, "It was obviously because of you! Come on correct me,"

She moved this time. Mikaela glanced at me but that's all she did. She continued to work on our assignment, doing the more difficult problems and leaving me the easy ones. I frowned and sat up.

"Alright, that's how you want to play ya brat, fine!" I grumbled. I stood up and went to my desk to fetch my headphones. I sat back down and placed them on, "Here we go! And it's on noise-cancelling feature!"

I worked in silence for the rest of the class. Until I was interrupted by flashing lights. I noticed my classmates packing up. The fire alarm went off. I stood up, packed my stuff, and headed to my desk to get my backpack that I had forgotten. I looked up and took a few steps forward before coming to a complete stop. Mikaela was completely distressed; she covered her ears while repeatedly smacking her head with her left hand. I walked over to her, not understanding what the hell I was witnessing, staring at Karina desperately looking through her sister's backpack.

I moved Karina's desk away and removed my headphones, placing them on Mikaela. I held her wrist and placed her hand on my forearm. I took out my phone and showed it to her. She glanced up with tears in her eyes.

"It's okay, take my phone and leave the building with Karina," I said and pointed at her sister, as I walked back, guiding her out of her desk.

Karina was next to me. I gave her my phone and she took it and grabbed her sister's hand.
