"Strange Magic"

I stared as our housekeeper took Se Jun's backpack and walked beside him, leaving our home.

"Vin? Sweetie, are you okay?" My mother asked.

"Why can't I go to school?" I asked, "Se Jun goes, and so does Eun Ju... I don't want to be homeschooled..."

"You really want to go?"

"I'm seven and Korean too!" I grumbled, "Isn't that what I need to be to go to school?"

My mother chuckled and sat down next to me.

"You're right but... South Korea... is the second most dangerous place for Luciferis, and your white hair and eyes give you away," My mother explained, "And although they are beautiful... many ignorant people are afraid of them... and consider you dangerous. When in truth they are the danger,"

"So, I have to stay here? Hidden?" I asked and looked down at the floor. I hated wearing contacts whenever we went out and constantly having our housekeeper dye my hair... all because my Luciferi genes refused to stay hidden.

My mother kissed me on the cheek and caressed my head.

"I'm sorry, sweetie, go play; we'll study later," said my mother.

I nodded and left for the garden. I hid against the wall, refusing to listen and play. I knew a lesson skip meant she needed time by herself to think. My mother leaned back against her seat and played with her gold bracelet, which she never took off.

"Yun!"

"Bea? Something wrong?" My father asked as he stopped when he heard his name being called.

"Victor wants to go to school,"

"I hope you told him he can't attend," My father sighed, "Not only would he be in danger, but so would the rest of the family,"

"I know... but he obviously feels trapped," My mother sighed.

"Bea, if we want to keep him safe, he needs to be hidden," said my father, "There is no other choice,"

"There is," My mother said and played with her golden bracelet, "Let's contact Delaney!"

"That is not happening," My father sighed and pinched his nose, "We all agree to cut contact; we have our children to protect!"

"Bullshit! You know that rule is bullshit!" My mother cursed and stood up.

I jumped back, startled.

"If all this was about protecting our children, you would have left your job!" She glared; my mother glared.

"Allowing him to attend school and leave our home will put our children in danger, Se Jun and Sofia will be in danger,"

"Victor! My son's name is Victor! The moment we adopted him, he became our son! My son! He is no different than Se Jun and Sofi!" My mother screamed and pointed at my father, "And if you refuse to treat him equally, then I married the wrong man!"

My mother turned around and began walking away.

"Bea..." He called and tried to stop her.

"Don't touch me,"

My father was cold with me for the next two weeks, only when my mother wasn't present. Se Jun was off to school like always, and Sofi was with our aunt Eun Ju and grandparents at an amusement park.

"Why do I have to dress up if I'm staying home?" I grumbled as my mother fixed my tie.

"Who says you're staying home?" My mother smiled.
