"Well, that was interesting," Lorcian said and shook his head with a small chuckle in his voice. He squeezed my shoulder before he placed a quick kiss on my forehead, and I closed my eyes and bit back a small tired sigh. "Do they normally call for him like that?"
"Not really," I said and shook my head. "I think his mother and Beloved knew that I didn't want him here, so they called him and told him to come home."
"But they don't do that for Anastasia, right?" Ari asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I shook my head no. She furrowed her brows and cocked her head to the side while she studied me, biting back a small frown. "Why not?"
I shrugged and grimaced, pressing my lips into a thin line. "Don't know," I said before I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat. "That's more of an Anastasia question or an Isen question, but I don't think that you should call for him now because he is in trouble with his mom and Beloved."
Ari slowly nodded and furrowed her brows. "Do you know anything about his dad?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and the hair on the back of my neck stood up at attention while I grew tense. "I mean, I tr-"
"I wouldn't talk about his father or ask him anything about it," I said and shook my head, interrupting her, and Ari closed her mouth and looked at me with wide eyes. "It's not... a good thing to talk about because there is a lot of stuff going on behind closed doors, and it's not something that they want out in the open."
Ari and Ethan looked at each other before they looked at me, and worry flashed through their eyes. "Is he dangerous?" Ari asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Her face grew pale while she stared at me, pressing her lips into a thin line, silently praying that he wasn't dangerous at all.
I bit back a bitter smile and shook my head. "He wasn't," I said, "but he isn't something that they like talking about. I do not know what happened or why, and I haven't asked, but I know that it isn't something we need to talk about like this."
Ari and Ethan looked at each other again and stayed silent before they looked at me. Worry and fear flashed through their eyes, and they wanted me to say something else about this, but I didn't; I couldn't.
Lorcian cleared his throat and shifted in the seat. "So, when do you want to be introduced to the pack as our actual Luna?" he asked, changing the subject while he looked at me. "I mean, we didn't really do that the first time you were here."
I pursed my lips in annoyance and shook my head, wrinkling my nose. "I don't know," I said with a small grumble in my voice. "I know that I should, but I am dreading it and the fact that I will have to do this as the next queen."
"Will you announce that you are the princess soon or have you done that already?" Tony asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he studied me, and I shrugged and grimaced, shaking my head.
"I haven't done it formally besides here with the other pack present," I said before I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat. "However, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone knows because rumors spread fast between packs, and I wouldn't be surprised if this "rumor" has spread like wildfire."
"So they would know that you are a fox as well?" Colt asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I looked at him. "Or do you think that could act as a rumor just like you being the princess?"
I shrugged and grimaced, pressing my lips into a thin line. "I am sure that it would still be considered a rumor, especially since I do not shift that much in public anyway."
"Why not?" Ari asked and raised an eyebrow in question. She cocked her head and studied me with a small frown on her face. "I mean, doesn't Majety and Sinopa get annoyed and mad about not being able to come out as often as others?"
'Yes,' both Sinopa and Majesty said in unison, and I held back an eye roll while I pressed my lips into a thin line. 'We should be able to shift into our other forms now that we are safe.'
'And there is still a chance that we are not safe,' I said with a small grumble in my voice. I bit back a tired sigh and shook my head, moving a hand through my hair while I pursed my lips in annoyance. 'I do not want to risk it.'
'But this time, we can use our powers because the main bad guy is killed,' Sinapoa said, and Majesty hummed in agreement. 'We also have Anastasia under our control, so she is safe and can not hurt us.'
Even though she had never hurt us while she was under someone else's control either... I pressed my lips into a thin line when that thought crossed my mind, and I leaned further in my seat.
"Well, do they?" Ari asked when I didn't answer her question. She cocked her head and studied me with a small smile on her face and amusement filling her eyes as if she knew that I was talking to my Spirits. "Do they get mad because they do not get let out as often as they would like?"
"Yes," I said and nodded in confirmation. "They are not happy about not being let out as often as other peoples' other spirits, but there is still a chance that I am still in danger, especially since I am a half breed and a powerful half breed at that."
"Because you are a fox/wolf hybrid?" Ari asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I nodded in confirmation. "With magical powers?"
"Yes," I said and nodded. I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat, biting back a tired sigh while I rubbed my hands together. "I know a bit of what I can do, but I do not know everything. I've heard that Fox Spirits can have a lot of powers, but I do not know what else I can do besides healing others."
"How easy is it to find out?" Ari asked and leaned forward in her seat while excitement filled her eyes. "I mean, can you find out now?" She raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me. "Can we help?"
I bit back a small laugh, amused that she was so excited while I shrugged and grimaced, not knowing how to answer her question. "I do not know if I am able to find out something at this exact moment, but I do know that I will be able to learn something, especially since I am now in a safe place where I can learn about myself and grow not only as a princess but a Fox as well."
With or without any help from others that are like me...
