I woke up to something getting into bed with me. A growl escaped my lips, and I lunged at the person without opening my eyes. I grabbed the person's throat and pushed them against the wall with a soft thud before they could do anything.
The person grabbed my hand and tried to move my hand from their neck, but I wouldn't budge. They were trying to say something, to do something, but they couldn't breathe. They couldn't get any air in their lungs to fill them long enough to be able to do something.
I opened my eyes and saw that it was Lorcian staring back at me with shock filling his eyes. Guilt filled my body, and I gently set him down on the ground before I let go of his neck. A blush appeared on my cheeks, and I looked down. "Sorry," I said, putting my hands behind my back while I took a couple of steps back away from him. I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet, my cheeks turning a darker red because I was ashamed. "I didn't know it was you."
Lorcian shrugged and rubbed his throat, grimacing. "I know," he said. "I am sure that you wouldn't have choked me if you did know it was me." He frowned and looked at me, and I could tell that he was concerned, especially since I had squeezed his throat. "Are you alright?" He cocked his head and studied me, the concern on his face for me in full view.
I shrugged and didn't respond. "I should be asking you that question," was my response. I glanced at him through my eyelashes and saw that he rolled his eyes and scowled. "I should," I defended. "I am the one that had squeezed the living daylights out of you."
"Well, I asked you first," Lorcian said. He folded his arms across his chest and stuck his tongue at me, a face that Isen would pull when I didn't do something that he wanted.
I raised an eyebrow. "Have you been hanging around Isen?" I asked, and he scowled and nodded his head. An amused smile appeared on my lips, and I was surprised that Isen decided to come to visit even after everything that had happened.
"He had been visiting here for some time now," he replied, disgruntled. "He and Ari had hit it off instantly and had become good friends." He shrugged and stuffed his hands into his pockets. "Ethan seems to be fine with it."
"He should," I replied. "He knows that Isen has a mate already and that they were tight." I moved a hand through my hair and shook my head. "So, are you going to answer my question or not?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "I didn't squeeze you too hard, did I?"
Lorcian sighed and shook his head, no. "You didn't," he said, soothing some of the fear that I had. "You squeezed enough for me to listen to you if you said something but not hard enough to leave a bruise." He cleared his throat and rubbed his throat before he lifted his chin so I could look. "See? Nothing."
I walked over to him and studied his throat. Hesitantly, I reached forward and touched it, trying to feel if there was any bruising or not that I needed to heal, which there wasn't. I felt Lorcian's Adam's Apple bob when I had my hand on his throat, but he didn't move.
He took a deep, shuddering breath while I grazed my finger over my mark that I had made on his neck, his heart pounding hard in his chest. "Don't do that," he said, his voice breathless with a twinge of arousal in it, and I became slightly aroused as well. "Not unless you want me to take you onto the bed with your clothes off."
I pulled my hand away from his throat, and my heart started to pound in my chest. I became more aroused with the comment that he had made, and a part of me wanted to see if he actually would do that, take my clothes off and then take me onto the bed to finish the next and final step of the mating process.
Lorcian took a deep breath and shook his head; his whole body still tense. "Damn," he said, and I raised an eyebrow in question. "I didn't know how powerful a mark could be," he said. He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet. "I didn't expect to get marked myself and only mark my mate."
"Then again, you didn't expect to get mated to a princess," I said, and he nodded in confirmation. "Much less one that will become queen in Goddess knows how long." I pursed my lips and shifted on my feet. I had no idea how to be a queen, much less a princess, and wondered if I was apt for this job or not.
"Hey," Lorcian said. He walked over to me and tucked a strand of curly red hair behind my ear before he rested his hand on my cheek. His blues eyes searched my greens one, looking for answers that I did not give him. Concern made them darker than they normally were, and I didn't know if I liked them as dark. "You are apt for whatever job you are given," he said, "queen or luna or whatever. You can do it."
I raised an eyebrow and stayed silent. I kept my mask in place, hoping that he wouldn't see behind it. I had no idea what he would do if he did, and I had a feeling that he wouldn't like it.
Majesty and Sinopa whined when that thought crossed my mind. They knew of the struggles that I had and knew how difficult it was for me to claim my birthright, much less claiming my title as Luna.
"You were the Commander of the Accosian group," he said. He studied me, and I couldn't help but look down, not wanting to meet his gaze any longer. "You have had that position for years and years, maybe since you were younger, barely old enough to shift. I know that you think that you aren't ready for this, but I know that you are. All you have to do is believe in yourself."
I stayed silent and pursed my lips further. I had a hard time believing in myself, but I didn't want him to know. I didn't know why I had a hard time, but I did, and it wasn't something that I was proud of.
Gently, Lorcian kissed me on the lips, and I answered his kiss. He pulled me closer to him and wrapped his arms around my waist. His kiss turned forceful but gentle at the same time, and I answered it.
I placed my arms across his neck and clutched my hands together. I could feel his heart beating fast through my shirt, mine beating just as fast while we made out, each one of us fighting for dominance and not ceasing to control the other.
Lorcian moved his hands lower until they rested under my bottom. He lifted my bottom, indicating that he wanted me to hop up, and I did just that and wrapped my legs around his waist. He started to walk somewhere, but I didn't care while I kept my attention on his lips.
My back met the bed while he gently lowered me towards it, and he got on top of me. My breathing became hitched against his lips when he brushed his pelvic region near mine, and a fire that I had never felt before filled my body, and the only thing that could quench it was the male on top of me.
Lorcian groaned when he smelt my arousal and pushed his lips hard against mine before he pulled away. He laid down beside me, leaving me feeling hot and heavy, and I had a feeling that he felt the same. "Not yet," he panted and closed his eyes. His jaw became set, and it looked like he was fighting his wolf for control. "Not yet." His voice grew firmer and authoritative, and I had a feeling that he was talking to his wolf.
I closed my eyes and panted, feeling very uncomfortable. I had no idea why he was waiting and what he was waiting for. I wanted him to be mine in all shape and size, but I knew better than to push.
I knew that one day he would be mine, and I would never have to feel as uncomfortable as I did then. I just needed to make it until then, even though I had no idea how.
