"So... do you want a new tour of the house and the packlands, Fox?" Colt asked after a few moments of silence while we enjoyed each other's company. He cocked his head to the side while he studied me, biting back a small smile. "I think that there are some... good additions to the house that you might want to see." He flashed me a small smirk and a wink, and I raised an eyebrow in question.
Lorcian grew tense beside me and set his jaw while he stared at the male in front of us. "Colt," he warned and narrowed his eyes with a scowl on his face.
Colt looked at him and grinned before he looked at me. "You could ask your mate to show you around if you would like." He flashed me a small smirk and a wink, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and scowl. "It will be fun."
I turned to look at my mate and raised an eyebrow in question while I looked at him. "And what is it that you want to show me, Lorcian?" I asked and cocked my head to the side, studying him with a small frown.
Lorcian grew tense beside me, and his cheeks turned red while he blushed. He cleared his throat and shifted in his seat, looking very nervous and scared, and I couldn't help but become amused. "Nothing," he said and shook his head, and his voice squeezed just a tad. "I wanted to show you nothing. It is not important."
I slowly blinked and looked at him with a blank look on my face. I didn't say a word while I stared at him, trying but failing to keep both the amusement and annoyance from flashing across my eyes and face.
"Are you sure, Lorcian?" Colt asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "I mean, it is a very big thing." He looked at my best friend and raised his eyebrow higher in question, and a small smirk appeared on his face. "Right, Ethan?" he asked and winked, and I turned to look at my second while Lorcian shifted more beside me, getting more and more anxious with each passing second.
Ethan smiled and shook his head. "I am staying out of this one, Colt," he said. "You can do or say what you want, but don't bring me into it."
"Well, you are in on it, so what is my mate hiding from me?" I asked and gestured toward the male beside me, and my mate grew tense while his cheeks turned red. 'Should I be worried?' I asked, letting him hear the concern and nervousness that I tried to keep off my face.
Ethan's gaze grew softer, and he subtly shook his head, silently indicating that I didn't need to be worried. "Sorry, Jo," he said. "That is on Lorcian. We're not going to say a word." 'You don't need to be worried about it,' he said through our link. 'I would have stopped him if I thought you were going to get hurt or something along those lines.'
I breathed a small sigh of relief and subtly nodded because I knew that what he said was true.
He would stop anything someone else was doing before I got hurt or "killed" and before I even knew what it was that they wanted to do to me...
"Come on," Colt groaned and folded his arms across his chest while he pouted and tucked his head closer to his chest. Amusement filled his eyes when I looked at him, and he subtly shook his head. "You aren't going to question him about what he is hiding from you?" He nodded toward Ethan, who scoffed a laugh and rolled his eyes, pursing his lips in annoyance.
"She isn't going to question me," he said and shook his head. "She swore that she wouldn't order me to do or say anything unless I or someone else was in danger or was in fear of us harming ourselves."
"Why?" Troy asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he studied me.
"Because I do not want to abuse my powers and want people to do what I need when I need it if it comes down to it," I replied and shrugged, pressing my lips into a thin line. "Also, only a Royal is able to order someone else and have them complete the task that the royal wanted done, and I have been able to do that for most of my life, even if I do not do it."
They looked at each other and then looked at me, and a look of nervousness flashed through, those that did not "know" me well, eyes.
I held back an eye roll and scowl, pressing my lips into a thin line. "Care to share what that look is for?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question, letting them hear the warning in my voice before I leaned back in my seat and folded my arms across my chest. "I know that it is something important, so what is it?"
They hesitated and the group looked at Lorcian, silently telling him to tell me. Their whole bodies were tense, and I couldn't help but feel annoyed and hurt about the whole thing, especially since I was to be not only their queen but their luna as well.
Lorcian sighed and shook his head, moving a hand through his hair and across his face. He pulled me closer to him and placed a small, gentle kiss on the side of my head, but I stayed firm and stayed tense, not caving into the feelings that he gave me.
"We are a little worried that you might use it on us..." Ari said, looking very sheepish. She cleared her throat and shifted in her seat, and her cheeks turned as red as her hair when I looked at her with a blank on my face. "I know that you won't, but there is this little sliver of doubt that says you will." She squinted her eyes together and held out her thumb and pointer finger until they were close together.
I scoffed a laugh and rolled my eyes, pursing my lips in annoyance. "Gee, thanks," I said coldly. "That was very nice for you to say." I looked at Lorcian and pressed my lips into a thin line. "Do you think like that, too?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I studied him.
Lorcian bit back a small, sheepish smile and tucked his head closer to his chest. He didn't say a word while he looked at me, and I could see the pain and guilt in his eyes while he looked at me.
A part of him did...
I scoffed another laugh and rolled my eyes before I started to stand, pulling myself away from my mate. "Ok, then," I said and cleared my throat while I stood the whole way, and to my surprise, Lorcian let me stand without a word. "If that is the case, then excuse me, I think it might be time for me to take my leave."
"And go where?" Lorcian asked and grabbed my hand before I could go too far, and I could tell that he was scared that I would fully leave after this conversation. "Where are you going to go?" He stood, and I could tell that he hated that I would leave him, even though I was hurt and needed to be alone for a bit.
It was the only way to keep my spirits at bay...
"Woods," I grunted and pulled my hand from his hand. "My wolf and fox need to be let out, and I am going to let them out. Alone." I looked at Ethan when I said that.
Ethan bowed his head and bit back a small smile. 'I will be near, though,' he promised, and I held back an eye roll and scowled, pressing my lips into a thin line. 'You are my queen, and I am going to serve you until the day that either of us die and then serve you in death, too.'
I held back an eye roll, and my cheeks turned slightly red, even though my heart and my spirits beamed with pride. 'Princess, Ethan,' I corrected while I bared my teeth in warning. 'I am your princess and not your queen.'
'No,' Ethan said and shook his head. 'You are my queen, and you will always be my queen no matter what anyone says or does or whatever position you are supposed to hold. You. Are. My. Queen.'
And will always be such...
I promise.
