"We will be by your side for whatever it is that you need to do, Jo," Lorcian said and pulled me closer to him. He placed a small kiss to the side of my head, and I closed my eyes while he squeezed my arm reassuringly. "You are not alone any longer and will get as much help as you need from us."
I gave him a weird look, earning a small snort from Ethan, who knew what I was about to say. "I have never been alone, though," I said with a shake of my head. "The only time that I had been alone was when I was locked in a cold dark cell, but even then, I had my cousin to watch my back and made sure that I stayed alive and well."
Lorcian scowled playfully and narrowed his eyes, and I couldn't help but smirk. "What would you say if I said you had a family then?" he asked and cocked his head to the side while he studied me with amusement filling his eyes.
"Ooh, I can answer that one," Ari said before I could get a word out. She grinned and tucked her head closer to her chest when she looked at me. "Can I?" Ari cocked her head to the side and pouted, and a look of amusement flashed through her eyes.
I held back an eye roll while I pressed my lips into a thin line. I didn't say a word and gesture for her to go ahead and say what she wanted to say to her brother.
Ari grinned and nodded before she looked at Lorican with a smug look on her face. "She has a family, too, Lory. Don't forget about Anastasia and her father. She also has Ethan and Sam, who she thinks of as her brothers."
Lorcian bit back a tired sigh before he moved a hand through his hair and across his face before he shook his head and grimaced. "Ok, fine," he said, sounding defeated, and I bit back a small smirk. "You have more family and have people near you, Fox. Is that good enough for you?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
I held back an eye roll and pressed my lips into a thin line. I folded my arms across my chest and scowled, and he smiled innocently and placed a small kiss to the side of my head. "That is fine, Lorican," I said. I bit back a tired sigh before I shook my head and pursed my lips in annoyance. "As long as you know that I have not been alone and have had a family before I lived here."
Lorcian bit back a small chuckle and slowly nodded. He rubbed the side of my arm and looked around before he looked at me with a raised eyebrow in question. "What about saying that you have someone in your bed?" he asked, teasingly while he flashed me a teasing wink.
I rolled my eyes and bit back a small snort. "Ethan and I have sometimes slept in a bed together with Sam on the other side of me," I said and shrugged with a small grimace on my face, and Ethan nodded in confirmation. "We slept in the same bed at the castle and then at base when we made it."
Lorcian hesitated and grabbed me tighter when a thought crossed his mind, and I rolled my eyes and scowled while Ethan snickered and tucked his head closer to his chest, and a small smirk appeared on his face.
"We have not done anything, Alpha," Ethan said with a small chuckle in his voice while he shook his head and shifted in his seat. "As Ari has said, we are her brothers, and we want to make sure that she is alive and well."
Lorcian slowly blinked before he looked between the two of us, and then he looked at me. His whole body grew relaxed, and he bit back a small sigh of relief while he slowly nodded as if was happy with that response.
I bit back a small snort and rolled my eyes while I set my jaw and pressed my lips into a thin line. "Very funny, Lorcian," I said coldly. "Did you seriously think that I would have done something with them?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I studied my mate.
Lorcian hesitated and shrugged with a small grimace on his face, and his cheeks turned red. "I just do not like the idea of someone sleeping in your bed and it not being me," he said with a small hum in his voice. "I know that you have not done anything with them, but... ya." His cheeks turned red, and he bit back a small smile.
I rolled my eyes and scowled, feeling very annoyed. "Do you think that I would have done something with them?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
Lorcian's grimace grew larger before he tucked his head closer to his chest. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked very sheepish, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and press my lips into a thinner line.
"Very funny, Lorcian," I said coldly but didn't shift away from him. I bit back a tired sigh and closed my eyes, rubbing the bridge of my nose and shaking my head while I pursed my lips in annoyance.
"I am sorry," he said and placed a small kiss to the side of my head, and I closed my eyes and bit back a tired sigh. "Do you think that you can forgive me? I didn't mean to get jealous, but for some reason, I got jealous of them, even though I mostly knew that you wouldn't do anything with them."
"Hmph."
Ethan bit back a small snort and rolled his eyes, and a small smile appeared on his face. "Her father would have killed us if he ever found out that we had done something inappropriate with her, if her mother doesn't come back from the grave and kill us first."
I bit back a small snort and slowly nodded, silently agreeing with him. "Or Ans would find a way to come over there even with her being controlled by someone other than me."
Ethan bit back a small chuckle and slowly nodded. "Anastasia can be scary and has scared me a lot of times in the past." He moved a hand across his face and looked at me with wide, innocent eyes, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and scowl because I knew exactly what he was thinking. "Can you tell not her that I said that?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question. He smiled innocently and tucked his head closer to his chest. "Please?"
I rubbed the bridge of my nose and sighed, shaking my head and pursing my lips in annoyance. "Ok," I said. "I hope that Isen will not say anything either, but I am sure that he will because he just loves to stir the pot." I lifted my head a tad, even though I had a feeling that Isen wouldn't appear, especially since his mom had called him "home" and to get away from me.
Ari's phone went ding when someone sent her a text, and she pulled it out of her pocket and read it. She bit back a small smile and looked at me, amused.
"Well?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question, cocking my head while I studied her because I knew that Isen had texted her something about my cousin "What did he have to say this time?"
"He says that he will not tell anyone, especially her, because he says that Ethan is right. She is scary, especially when she is mad, and no one wants to see her mad at all."
And that included me...
