You've been at your new job for roughly a week now and you must admit that you're really liking it so far. There hasn't been anything stressful going on and everyone has been extremely kind. It's practically the opposite of your old job at the Sanitarium. You've even made a few acquaintances- though, you're still a far shot from being able to call them friends like you would Jackson.
"(Y/N)!" Mandy, one of your coworkers and the first person to really have a conversation with you comes rushing over to your desk with a slightly panicked look. "Stand up! Stand up right now!"
Confused, you do as she says, standing up as she starts looking you over. "What's going on?"
"The boss is back from one of the other locations, and there's a good chance you'll meet him." Mandy explains as she dusts off your shirt, pulling at it in certain places to straighten out any wrinkles.
"What?" You question barely registering what she said due to being a bit flustered at her hands brushing over you.
"The boss!" She hisses, grasping your shoulders as she shakes you slightly. "Mr. Bateman! He's intense and insanely attractive. And he has a thing for things being neat so you need to look presentable!"
Unfortunately before you get the chance to question her further the door to the office swings open revealing who you assume to be Mr. Bateman from the way Mandy instantly pulls away from you to straighten out her own outfit. You can't help but to examine your boss as this is the first time you're seeing him- and Mandy was certainly right. He is very attractive.
Dark, meticulously styled hair that looks soft enough to make you jealous. High cheekbones accentuated by thin cheeks and a jawline that could cut paper. And his eyes- eyes that are currently locked on you- are dark, something lingering in them that sends an involuntary shiver down your spine. It's almost as if his gaze is piercing straight through you.
"Welcome back, Mr. Bateman." Mandy greets him the second he's close, flashing him a soft yet flirtatious smile- quite the bold move considering he's the boss. His eyes are still on you, however, and she seems to catch on to that as she quickly motions towards you. "This is (Y/N) (L/N). They just started working here a few days ago."
"It's nice to meet you Mr. Bateman." You hesitate slightly, unsure if you should offer your hand or not. He's made no move to offer his own, so you simply stay still. Your heart feels like it's about to pound right out of your chest the longer he stares at you. And it only gets worse when his gaze starts to wander as if appraising you.
Then, completely unexpectedly, he reaches out and plucks a piece of fuzz from your shoulder. From Mandy's wide gaze shining with surprise you can tell this isn't something he would normally do. Yet he simply flicks the fuzz away before looking you straight in the eye. "Welcome to the team."
That's all he says before he walks away, heading to his office. Yet you'd think he'd confessed his feelings from the way Mandy whirls around to look at you the second the door shuts behind him. "Oh my god!" She quietly squeals. "He touched you! He actually willingly put his hand on you! I've never seem him do that- like, ever!"
She continues ranting and raving like something major just happened while you simply stare at the door he disappeared through. You're not entirely sure of what to think about the interaction you just had with your new boss. He was intimidating and made you feel small and insignificant just by looking at you. And your shoulder still feels warm from where his touch lingered no longer than a second.
However, by the end of the day you're almost certain you hate him.
The man had you running errands and filling out paperwork- none of which was your own work to be doing, or even a part of your job. Every chance he got he was either calling you into his office to run something somewhere or bring him something, or he was sending you emails containing more and more paperwork you're pretty sure you weren't qualified to handle.
By the time you clocked out and sat in your car, you were almost missing having Wanda as your boss. At least she only made you do your actual job.
You practically break every speeding law imaginable on the way home, silently fuming at being used all day. From the way Mandy spoke of him you'd almost think he was a God or something. But no, he's just a prick with what seems to be a God complex.
By the time you walk through the front door you're muttering curse after curse, completely unaware of the group of people watching you. It isn't until Hannibal clears his throat that you finally look up in surprise, hand raising instinctively to cover your mouth to stop the curses flowing from your lips. You nearly apologize only to remember that you no longer have to remain professional around them since they're no longer your patients. They're just people you share your home with.
"Everything alright, doll?" Danny questions, head tilted as he examines your tense body language. Even if you didn't walk into the house cursing up a storm he would've easily clocked your unusual irritated mood.
Looking over the various curious eyes staring at you, you let out a sigh, knowing you can't just walk away and pretend everything is fine now. Walking into the living room, you don't even complain when Jason pulls you into his lap, his large arms wrapping around your torso as he offers you comfort in the only way he knows how.
You practically melt into him, feeling the irritation slowly leaving your body. Once comfortable, you begin your rant on your new boss who you met for the first time today. You go on and on about how he turned you into his little errand runner, having you practically zooming around the office all day. And if you weren't delivering files then you were sat at your computer working on reports that were certainly not in your payroll. Nearly twenty minutes pass by before you let out a deep breath, finally done ranting about your crappy day.
Everyone is silent for a moment, simply taking in your words. There's numerous things they could say in attempts to comfort you right now. The problem is choosing the right things.
Ultimately, the choice is taken away when Stu finally breaks the silence. "Want us to gut him?"
The others freeze at his question only to relax the second you snort out a laugh. "I think it'd be a bit suspicious for my boss to mysteriously die right after I meet him." You sit up with a stretch, standing up from Jason's lap as you prepare to go get in the shower. "Besides, it was only one bad day. I'm sure things will get better."
They all watch you ascend the stairs, one shared thought running through all of their minds- they'd kill your boss in a heartbeat if you asked them to.
