ANTECEDENT: CHAPTER 37
MIDNIGHT's third and last training focuses on strength, fighting skills and recovery. Draco Russ was a brutal mentor, which was what Midnight was hoping for. He had already been trained to the hell and back by his father, so he wanted a more hellish training.
And the continental boss of Australia gave him that.
Brutal strength and power training. Violent combat training. Inhumane agility training. Merciless endurance and conditioning training. Rigorous tactical training and strategy. And lastly, the most difficult for Midnight, which was actually the easiest of all the training—recovery and first-aid training.
Midnight passed all the training with top marks except for the last one, which made Chaos, who was training alongside Midnight, wanted to laugh at Midnight's misery.
"If you can kill, you can also save a life!" Draco firmly told Midnight. "Start with wound care and bleeding control! Your five minutes start now!"
Midnight, for the third time that day, clumsily tended to a wound and stopped the bleeding of a 'human model'. It was a simulated inanimate human model that mimics a human body made by the Aegis Department for training like this.
"Your patient will die at this rate." Draco commented while watching Midnight work, shaking his head. "The way you fight, I can tell you've been in dangerous situations before, which resulted in wounds like this. How did you survive that without knowing how to patch up a wound?"
Midnight answered while his hands continued to work. "I sleep and hope I'll die fast."
The room became silent, and Chaos felt worried. He had been training and fighting with this rascal for nearly two years now, to notice how little Midnight thinks of his life sometimes. Yes, in a dangerous situation, he would fight to stay alive, but there were a lot of times where he would squander his life as if he was betting if he'll live or not.
With a sigh and a shake of his head, Chaos decided to forget his worries and watch out for Midnight instead.
The training continued and by the end of the day, Midnight barely pass the wound care and bleeding control training.
Drained, with his shoulders drooping, Midnight wearily returned to his hotel room.
Now alone in his room, he wanted to vent his frustration, so he called Blake, who answered in two rings.
"What's up?" Blake answered while there was a sound of cooking in the background.
"I'm pissed."
"Yeah. I can tell." There was a hint of a smile in Blake's voice. "What happened?"
Midnight recounted what happened in the training room today. "I just don't get it! When I was shot, I just have to rip a cloth or something and tie it around my wound. Buhay pa naman ako. But that human model dies every fucking time! What the fuck?! So fragile?"
Blake's voice was heard in the background, shouting at him. "Idiot! Humans are fragile! You're just built different!"
That silenced Midnight. Indeed, he was built differently. He didn't know how he knew that, but he could feel it. And when he tried to remember how he knew, there was a burst of pain in his head, warning him not to delve deeper.
Sensing Midnight's foul mood, Blaze quickly added. "I think those kinds of training are made to mimic real-life situation, so when it happens in real life, you won't be shocked at the severity and will be ready to respond immediately. But every wound and person are different. Don't compare your previous wounds to your training now, you hear me?"
