ANTECEDENT: CHAPTER 45

JUST WHEN Midnight's Security Company was accepted as the new security for the Pandora's research facility, he was pulled by his father from the mission and was given a new one. As if he did not waste over two years of his life to infiltrate Pandora.

All his hard work, all the effort he had put into doing his job, was crushed by a single sentence from his father. "It's useless, so follow my order."

Just like that, Midnight felt everything crumbled down around him. The disappointment and the frustration crashed over him like an unrelenting storm. His obedience shattered in an instant. His patience, once unwavering, dissolved into nothingness.

Everything he had endured and sacrificed these past two years suddenly felt meaningless.

His hard work, his endless battle in the black-market, not seemed like a joke from the very beginning.

He just wanted to do good; to protect his brother in his own way, so why does he have to suffer this hell?

A cold, empty rage began to fill the void inside him, pushing him toward a decision he could never take back.

Fuck obedience. Fuck patience. He's done. He didn't want this life anymore! Even if he stayed obedient, his father would not let him go. He would forever be his brother's shadow if he didn't do something to break this cycle.

He's fed up with this life! If he had to bet and risk his fuck-up brain to get away from this life, then so be it!

The first thing he did after he had decided was to procure a phone and called Love.

"Who's—"

"It's me."

The other line became silent for a long time before he heard a sniffing sound.

Midnight's sharp expression softened. "Still a drama queen, I see."

Love continued crying, and then a voice was heard in the background. "What's wrong with you?" It was Atticus.

"You look so ugly, crying." It was Claud with disdain, clear in his voice.

Love glared at the two. "It's the boss, you idiots!"

"What?!"

"Boss?!"

Atticus and Claud scrambled to gran Love's phone. Atticus won, earning a glare from Claud.

"Boss, where are you? Do you have an order for us? We're ready."

"Boss, come home already!" Claud hissed.

Midnight smiled. He had missed this noisiness. "I'm currently in Indonesia. I'll be home in a few days. For now, listen to my orders."

"Yes, boss!" The three answered simultaneously.

Midnight felt relief. He knew he could always count on his fucked-up team. "Love, monitor my father. He has an expert tracker, but I believe you can defeat him. Track him, hack everything you can hack, and report his movements to me."

Love smiled. "Alright. Leave it to me."

"Atticus, I have a mission specifically for you." He had to outsmart his father. "Listen to my orders. I'll give you an instruction now."

Atticus listened attentively before nodding. "Yes, boss."

"And Claud?"

"Boss."

"Meet me in Barcelona in a week. We have something to do."

"Yes, boss."

After that brief call, Midnight summoned the person he would leave as the deputy CEO of his Security Company. It didn't feel right to him to just abandon the company he poured his blood and sweet into.
