Ana woke up from whatever had knocked her out. Yet she didn't wake up in the maze or even in the school. She woke up in a simple room. Blue walls with fake vines decorated across it. A few picture frames holding important posters to the owner of the room. The room wasn't big, it was only as big as a medium sized bathroom... maybe. Yet it held anything and everything. Bookshelves filled with books and trinkets. A wardrobe that looked like it had reached its maximum capacity. So much so there were folded clothes on the floor next to a makeup and hair station that was in front of a full length mirror.
She was laying on what little floor space was still available in the room and as she sat up she saw a girl. Laying in her bed she was typing with a plate in front of her of the meal she had just consumed. Pasta. She wiped the sides of her mouth with her fingers before resorting back to the device in her hand. You could hear the quick taps on the screen as she typed away.
"Oh your awake! I wondered how long you'd be out for," she chirped as she sat up. Her black hair chopped to create a shaggy look, a smile painted on her face showing her far from perfect teeth and piercings covering her nose and ears. Her top lip played with her septum. She only did this when she was nervous as when the spiky balls met her lip she, in some way, felt satisfied. Ana waved her hand hoping to trap the girl but she simply laughed "oh lovely your magic doesn't work here," her voice having a British twang to it.
"Where am I?" Ana spat as she got more frustrated with the girl.
"You are in my room actually so watch your tone," she spoke in a more fed up way before smiling at Ana "I wrote you that's why your here,"
"Wrote me? You can't write me," Ana exclaimed trying to sound mighty "I am my own person writing my own destiny,"
"Oh Ana but I can and I have," the writer smirked before going back to typing on the screen in front of her. Ana's eyes widened at the mention of her name. She hadn't even introduced herself yet. "You are fragment of my imagination that I created,"
"So you're a Storian?" Ana asked cautiously as her villain persona died down. She'd never met a Storian before. Whatever she wanted must be important.
"I mean you could call me a Storian. Yet I get distracted way easier, Have you seen how long it took me to write this," she laughed knowing those who had started reading when it was first published, if they managed, would laugh too. "Please call me Izzie,"
"What do you want with me then, Izzie?" She asked fidgeting with her hands. Still puzzles as to why her magic did not work.
"I feel you need a reminder of who you are, Ana. I feel you've forgotten who you are. Even who you love," Ana's mind slipped to the thought of Chris and how Ana had made fun of her. Although at the same it it was the blood magic's doing "Not entirely,"
"I didn't say anything," Ana spoke in a timid voice
"I know but I know what you're thinking," Izzie replied simply "it wasn't just the blood magic's fault. You want to be an Ever so badly. It's one of the things you hope to change. You want a prince and you try so hard to want these things but you need to come to terms with the fact that your not for either,"
"What do you mean?" Ana said taking a seat on the bed.
"You will always be a Never and there is nothing you can do to stop it. You may wish and want different but that's your destiny. I want don't get basically. What I'm trying to say is let's be honest, between you and me... you've never really wanted a prince. It was always a princess for you, wasn't it?" She spoke leaning forward now. Ana's eyes shot open, she'd never told anyone about this. Of course she had to do what was best for the kingdom and if that was to find a prince she would.
"But it doesn't matter," Ana dismissed "my father wants me to marry a prince and even so... Nevers don't find love,"
Izzie laughed again at pure naivety of the girl "of course you can find love. Everyone can love. There's no written rule saying some people can't and some can. It's simple human nature, Ana. Just because you're a villain doesn't make you any less lovable," it was then Izzie lent back and in a stroke of genius started explaining it to Ana in a way she'd understand "You may be separated in a weird world of heroes and villains yet you are all still human. No matter how evil, you will always find love,"
"Have you found love?" Ana asked Izzie. The writer thought for a second finding the best way to word it.
"Yes, I've been in love and I've fallen out of it. True love isn't always the first person you lay eyes on. It takes time to find the right one. Enjoy each one while it lasts and if it ends know your true love is out there somewhere. The other half of your soul,"
"How do you know that?" Ana said quickly trying to insinuate that the writer did not know whether her lover is out here somewhere.
"Trust me, I know," Izzie gave her a knowing smile. It was almost like a big sister talking to a younger one. It wasn't long before silence filled the room. A comfortable silence the girls sat in as the writer continued to type out this very scene. The writer then broke the silence by asking "Ana, do you regret what you have done?"
"No. I'm restoring the balance," She said as if was a bratty child. It was of course meant to be an obvious answer to the question but the writer wasn't so sure.
"Do you even understand what you're saying?" The writer asked almost amused by the girls statement "There is no balance if good strives while it crushes evil. There is no balance only a winner,"
"That's how it has to be," Ana said as the blood magic started to give her the confidence boost she needed
"Even by ending your friends? Chris? What will become of her? Will you kill her?" The writer asked almost said stroking her chin before resting her index finger on her lips. She smiled knowing her characters answer.
"Surely they don't have to die," she said now unsure of what she was fighting for. She knew deep down this was all true but she wasn't ready to admit it.
"Your friends are evil. You are striving to protect good. They have to die don't they?" Izzie spoke carefully playing devils advocate. It was then Ana got a weird feeling in her gut. Whether it was realisation of the severity of the situation or regret.
"Why does anyone have to die?" Ana pleaded looking for an answer from the writer.
"There you go. Now you're getting it," Izzie smiled proudly as her character started to understand. Ana started to feel light headed as the girl begun to type again.
"Get what?" She asked the writer but it was too late as the girls eyes begun to close.
"Good luck, lovely," Izzie simply said as Ana faded away, back to her story. Once the girl had disappeared, Izzie now asked herself the puzzling question she'd been asking herself for the past few minutes "where the fuck is my Diet Coke gone?"
