Abby's POV:
I had just finished college last year. My boyfriend, Jake, and I had just got our own house and finally got some peace from assignments, exams and studying. Jake and I had met in our second year at college and we loved each other ever since.

My parents died 6 months ago and I'm still sort of recovering from that. It was said that they unfortunately committed suicide but I didn't believe the media nor did I think that, that's what really happened. My parents were happy healthy people who loved each other and the jobs they had and the lives they lived. What I did know is that something or someone killed them and it was because of the second life that they lived. My parents never introduced me to this second life that they lived apparently to keep me safe, to keep me hidden. Hidden from what, safe from who. I asked them for ever, why? But they always have the same answer. But a few weeks before they died they briefly told me something. "Find these people if you get scared they can help you better than we can, the second 'job' we have isn't really a job more of a life that we were born into. You were born into it as well. There is one more person like you. Your brother, you must find him he can teach you all you need to know." My dad handed me a piece of paper with a few names on it. Alex, Ross, Christopher. Why did these three names put together seem so familiar. I couldn't piece it together for ages so I just gave up and kept the note in my pocket for ages, sometimes I used it as a book mark just so Jake didn't see it. I knew that if he saw it it wouldn't be hard to lie about what it was but I also knew that the life my parents had was dangerous and that if whatever killed them if after me as well it would be after Jake now too.

I am just sitting quietly at home watching a movie watching for Jake to come home when I got a phone call from a private number. "Hello?" I said cautiously.
"Hello is this Abby Smith," the voice sounded so familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"Yes?"
"I am your brother." I was slightly shocked but I still didn't believe him.
"Prove it?"
"I can't right now. Meet me in the park mum and dad always took you to in two days." I was still very cautious. Even if he was my brother how did he know that my brother was never around in fact I never even knew I had a brother, so how did he know that. "We have already been on to long I must go, remember at the park mum and dad always took you in two days."
"Wait what time."
"When they always took you." And he hung up.
When they always took me, when they always took me. I was pacing back and forth trying to remember at time they always took me. I knew it was after school but in two days it was the weekend. On the weekend we always had a picnic on Saturday and we got there at about 12:30 almost always. How does he know this. Even if he really is my brother why is be being so secretive. I heard the door unlock. "Hey Hon I'm home."
"Hey."
"Hey what's up," Jake gave me a hug.
"Nothing much just thinking."
"Hey how about we go for lunch at your favourite park at say 1ish."
"Sorry babe I can't I have plans with Karen to have lunch and a coffee," I lied. Why was I trusting this dude that said he was my brother and I have know idea if he was or not. "Aww shame, well mind if I come along."
"Nar you know girly chat, she thinks that Jamie is going to ask her to marry him."
"Oh that's wonderful." He kissed my forehead.
"Jake what's going on why do you want to hang around me so much on Saturday." I started to think about what the guy on the phone said. "We have already been on to long." I shook my head a tiny bit so Jake wouldn't notice.
"Oh you know I just want to spend time with my girl, have a nice date. We haven't been on one in a while since work and stuff."
"Yeah, how about Sunday then."
"Ok sounds like a good idea."

When I was getting ready for bed that afternoon those names kept running through my head. Alex, Ross, Christopher. Alex Smith, Ross Hornby, Chris Trott. No way. It fit my last name was Smith and so was his. My parents said I had a brother and they gave me those name and they suddenly sound like the names of the Hatfilms guys. If it was Alex Smith who called me it would make sense about how I thought his voice sounded to familiar. Ok I'm slightly more confident now. I thought it would be slightly easier to explain to Jake now if he went to the park and saw me hanging out with Alex, or if it was him. I could just say Karen when to the loo and this was her cousin maybe. This kinda makes sense but doesn't as well.

I pulled out the necklace that mum gave me when I was 13, she said it glowed brightly when I was near my soul mate and it glowed faintly if I have ever seen or heard of my soul mate. It was a the shard of a stone, mine was a lovely dark blue. I never really noticed when it started glowing faintly. It wasn't glowing brightly and Jake was just in the next room brushing his teeth. It never glowed brightly around Jake I knew he wasn't my soul mate but I knew I had seen them. I also don't know why I believed her it just felt like it was true and I should. I just put the necklace back under my shirt and climbed into bed. It was difficult to sleep that night with just about everything running through my mind.
