Soul Shards

Chapter 5

Ross's POV:
Later that night as we were eating dinner Smith wouldn't stop glaring at me. I decided to ask him about it after. I followed him upstairs and out of the tree. "What the hell were you glaring at me before Smith," I said slightly angry.
"Your crystal started glowing brighter ever since Abby turned up and I saw that just before she was also wearing a dark blue crystal."
"Why are you so pissed then, we are meant to be together you can't stop it."
"Watch me try." I grabbed his arm before he could go back inside. "Alex would you prefer it to be me or some guy that could be Azazel's minion." He didn't answer. "She already knows about the crystals you know," I said to him, "she knows Alex." He didn't say anything again and walked back inside. I followed shortly after.

Everyone was sitting down playing Mario cart. Abby offered for me to sit beside her as there wasn't much room anywhere else. Smith seeing this and being a grumpy bum just walked into his room and went to sleep. "What's his problem," Abby asked.
"He caught on about the crystals."
"Ahh ok." We had been playing Mario cart for an hour and I didn't even notice but Abby began to fall asleep on my shoulder. I nudged her lightly. "Hey I think you should go lie down in your bed." She yawned but didn't seem to really be awake. So I picked her up bridal style and put her in her own bed to get some sleep.

Abby's POV:
I don't actually really remember when I fell asleep all I know is that I was now awake. Something didn't feel right when I woke up and sat with my feet over the edge. I quickly pulled my feet back a lay down but realising Jake was lying beside me. Was all that just a dream, like a really really weird fan girl dream. I so hope to god it wasn't. "Oh no young Abby that wasn't a dream it was all real, this however is somewhere between real life and a dream. You see what you want or what I want you to but you can also get hurt." A voice that I didn't recognise said. Then I felt something sharp touch my arm and cut it. I just grabbed my arm and cried out in pain. "You see this is how your beloved Jake died and it's how you bestie Karen is going as well." I saw Karen in my door way. "You should have picked up the phone it would have been our last phone call." She screamed and died right before my eyes. I covered my mouth and stifled my scream. The evil bastered laughed and cut my arm again. "Leave me alone why am I so important!" I yelled at where ever it was. I realised I was now just in a dark room no longer anywhere. "You see you are special because there are only two people in the whole world like you. You and your brother."
"Then why harass me and not him."
"Because he is strong and knows how to use his powers, very hard to manipulate. You on the other hand." The thing showed up and held my chin his face very close to mine. I pulled away. "They have already started training you haven't they, and you know about the gems. Looks like I was slightly to late for manipulation. You won't believe me."
"Why would I believe you in the first place."
"Because you see when your soul partner is dying your gem starts turning black." I looked at my gem and it was turning a very dark, dark blue almost black. "It's a trick you said you can make me see what ever you want me to see."
"How about you see for yourself then." I woke up and I was in the tree again. I couldn't take any chances at what he said so I jumped out of bed and ran into Ross's room. At first I thought nothing was wrong but when I looked closer there was a pool of blood covering his sheets. I quickly ran up to him. "Ross!" He replied with a cough. "Your going to be fine." I pulled the sheets off and saw about 10 cuts on each arm and he had lost a lot of blood. "GUYS I NEED HELP!" I yelled and about 2 seconds later Alex and Chris where in the room as well. "Fucking hell what happened."
"Azazel happened." Chris ran out and got towels and water and then any one else who heard me got stitches and bandages. "How did you know this would happen?" Alex asked me. "Azazel was in my dreams and he said that the gem turns black when your soul partner is dying. At first I didn't believe him but if he is as bad as you say he is I wasn't taking any chances."
"Ok this is probably going to hurt a lot," Hannah said and she started stitching up the really deep cuts there were only a few. Ross started screaming and I decided that I couldn't take it so I ran out and sat at the far end of the arena.

Alex came down about a hour later. "It's only my first night here and I almost got someone killed," I said wiping away my tears. "Look Ross is doing fine he is actually still awake not in a coma or anything."
"Why did you have to tell me that, it makes it even worse knowing that he could feel all that pain."
"He is so dosed up on pain meds rights now it's fine." Alex gave me a hug. "Look I know that you haven't had the best few days but you are going to get stronger you are going to be able to fight him I promise." He wiped away my tears and practically picked me up and dragged me back up stairs. I wasn't a particularly short person in fact I was always the tallest in all my classes, I was 6 foot but Alex was taller and stronger than me so it was no problem. He dragged me back into Ross's room. They had now taken out the bloody sheets and put in new ones. Ross had bandaged arms and he was sleeping. "See he is fine," Alex said before dragging me back into my own room. "And now get some sleep it's 5 in the morning."
"But what if he shows up again."
"Then then tell him to fuck off." I giggled a little bit. "Look get at least some sleep, learning new spells and elements is very energy consuming." I soon gave up and went to sleep.
