Alex's POV:
After we answered some more of Abby's questions and I was just sitting in a spare room she came in. "Hey Alex can I ask you a few things."
"Yeah sure, but didn't you say it was all you needed to know for now."
"About the idea but not about our family. What happened to you and how did you know all that stuff about the park."
"When mum found out she was pregnant again she handed me over to Chris's family for them to look after me."
"Why?"
"It was to dangerous to have us both together while we were young."
"Why though?"
"If we were split it was harder for Azazel to find us, then when mum found out you had the dragon she even made sure we didn't go to the same schools."
"How did you know about the park stuff then."
"Sometimes mum and dad would hand you to Trott's parents and then I would go with them and hang out at the park."
"So that's why Trott seemed so chill around me."
"Yeah I guess. You just kinda sat in a room while he did whatever."
"So when am I going to learn how to use my powers then?"
"When we get to the safe house."
"Which is."
"In the forest behind the park. It's kinda more of a safe tree."
"Your safe house is a tree." Abby made an unimpressed face. "Alex, Abby! Come on we are leaving!" Hannah called from downstairs.
"You will soon see."Abby's POV:
We arrived at the tree and Lewis just opened a door by touching the tree. We went down some spiral stairs till we came to what looked like a living room type area. It was quite large and had a few doors on the walls that were to hallways and off those hallways were bedrooms. I looked behind me and the spiral stairs still went down to another level. "We will show you your room then you can go down to the armoury and practice arena," Lewis said guiding me to the far right door. It had 5 doors, one for Ross, Alex, Chris and me and one for a bathroom. "So why do you guys have houses if you have this place," I asked him.
"So if we have stalker fans they don't see us going into here," he said and I laughed. "No I'm just kidding our actual houses aren't protected as well as this tree so if there is danger, like now, we stay here if not we don't." I nodded and he showed me into the last door beside Alex's room. "Just put your stuff in here and the guys will take you into the armoury to get equipped and maybe teach you something today." I walked in the room and Lewis left.I then pulled some clothes out of my bag and began putting them in the cupboard and I put my laptop on my bed. My phone started ringing and I saw it was Karen. We had been friends all throughout college but I still didn't answer the phone I just let it ring then I turned it off. "Smart not answering," Ross was standing in the doorway.
"I just didn't answer the phone to my best friend how is that smart?"
"You tell me you're the one that decided not to."
"Because she was an only child she once said that if she ever had a long lost sibling or something she would go meet them within the blink of an eye. But she said that I shouldn't go see Alex."
"Sorry to say this but all friends you ever had assume they can't be trusted from now on."
"Why?"
"You heard what we said Azazel has minions and we call them demons and they can look like the sweetest people but they are really looking to eat your soul." I sighed and put my phone down. "Come on we will see what you can do so far."Ross lead me down to the armoury and there were loads of weapons down there. There were different types of swords, modern and olden bows, short swords, daggers, there was even a morning star down there. They also had hidden blades. "Choose your weapon," Ross said in a game commentator voice. I picked up a sword to start of with, Ross picked one up too. "Tell me you at least know how to handle any type of weapon," he said leading me into a quite large room with targets stacked up on the side. "Sorta, I do know how to fire a bow."
"Kinda a bit hard to hide those in public so stick to the blades for now." He taught me a few moves on how to block and dodge. "Come on I want to know how to attack, I know how to defend."
"Alright, hit me." I started to swing the sword at him and something clicked in my mind like I knew how to do this all along and I knocked the sword out of his hand and pinned him against the wall. "Good job you do know something."
"I don't know what happened it just felt like I knew how to wield a sword all along."
"Well that's certainly interesting. How about we try a short sword." We went back into the armoury and I got a strap thing and put it on and Ross did the same. He handed me two short swords and we went back to the arena area. Again it felt like I knew how to handle the short swords all along. "Well that is usually the trait of a Warrior, knowing how to use weapons before they were even explained how," Ross said panting and putting the short swords back in the sword handle thingies is on his back. I did the same. "Well that explains why I was always so good at archery."
"That would explain it." I didn't notice this before but Ross's gem was glowing a little bit and yet it wasn't when we first met. I looked at my own it was glowing just as much. "You said that my brother would be pissed, didn't you?"
"Yes."
"Because two people with the same crystal are meant to be together."
"Yes."
"Does Alex actually know that yet."
"Not sure if he has caught on yet but I'm sure he will very soon. Anyway let's see if you can use any of your powers yet." So that's what Ross and I did for the rest of the day. I learnt how to use water because it was the easiest to control and tomorrow we were going to work on earth, then air, then fire.
