Chapter 35: Roses in bloom

Ivar was having breakfast with With his mother Catherine Hightower his Niece Aella and his older brother Bjorn, Ivar was playing with his food a plate of stormsland stag meat exported to the red keep as a gesture from house Baratheon to king Viserys and with a side of exported Reach Grapes, Catherine raised a stern look at him "Ivar stop playing with your food" Ivar put his fork down and quietly says "sorry mother".
Bjorn chuckled "Shut it brother" he snarked as he chuckled but stop when he saw Catherine give him a stern warning look.
With the room silent Catherine turned the conversation to Aella "Aella dear your mother has sent a Raven she will be visiting kings landing for a few months" Aella nodded giving a small smile but behind that facade she was disappointed.
"Grandmother, may I take my leave, katarina wants me to escort her around the market in kings landing" Catherine smiled "of course dear" Aella kissed Catherine's cheek making her leave.
Bjorn left shortly after to go train in the courtyard leaving just Ivar and Catherine together "Ivar dear you hardly touched your food what's going on, and don't lie Ivar I raised you my whole life so don't try it" Ivar sighs knowing he can never get passed his mother "It's Rhaenyras daughter Deanys I don't know I have strong feelings for her and I don't know if she is the same or if she feels the same way I do, I.... I don't know" Catherine smiled gently and walk around to Ivar kneeling infront of him "you don't know if they Ivar, me and your father had the same thing in a way but different" she thinks for a moment "you don't have to choose to arrange a marriage if you don't want to you have the freedom to pursue her, so pursue her" She kisses his forehead and walks away leaving Ivar to his thoughts.

Later that day Ivar was hopping along with his crutches towards the Courtyard he saw Deanys heading towards the market exiting the red keep he was spotted by her immediately and he hopped on his crutches over to her and followed her along kings landing.
"Um Deanys what exactly are you looking for in the market" Deanys smiled at Ivar as she looked over at him with her arm holding his "well mother said there's a really good gift stall for I'm trying to search for something for Katerina" Ivar nods and looks at her as she doesn't notice him looking "Um Deanys I have something to.." he was cut off as Deanys squealed and quickly walk towards the stall she was looking "they look so beautiful" she says to the woman who is in her late 40s.
Ivar hobbles over and raised a eyebrow at something he noticed a ring made of Blue sapphire with a flower in the center, when Deanys was distracted looking at the silks after she brought the gift for Katerina Ivar turns to lady "how much is that ring" The lady smiles "got a special lady me lord ay" Ivar looks back at Deanys blushes and looks back at the lady at the stall "you can say so" She chuckles "in that case me lord I'll let you pay me 10 gold" ivar opens his pouch and hands over 10 gold dragons he pops the ring box in his pouch and continues his day with Deanys.

As they returned to red keep they walk around the rose garden sector of the keeps garden, Ivar nervously wriggles his fingers at he sits on the bench as he look up he sees Daenys looking over smiling "can I ask you something Ivar" Ivar nods ands sits next to him "do you you like me?" Ivar raised his eyes shocked at the sudden blunt question "yes... urgh why are you asking this so sudden Daenys?" She looks down and blushes "because I've liked you ever since we were kids when we ran around the Pyke before we left back to Dragonstone".
She looks back blush evident on her face "do you feel the same" Ivar breathed out and remembered what father said to always be himself "I do I truly feel the same..." before Ivar can finish his sentence Deanys interrupted him "but I'm not ready for marriage yet Ivar, My mother doesn't know how I feel about you yet and I don't know how she will react is that okay" Ivar held her hand "of course it is Deanys" she smiles and kisses Ivar's cheek and held each other for a while till it was time to depart each other.
