Chapter Six

"Wake up Cream Puff." I rolled over and groaned. "Wakey wakey, eggs and bacey." I heard Mike's voice. "Well I guess not eggs and bakey. How about blood?" I snorted. "C'mon sunshine, I know you can hear me."

"What do you want?" I asked, peaking up at him.

"The sun just went down, time to go." Sighing I stretched, flinging the blankets away. "You know, you really should get a cell phone. It would make this search and rescue easier." Rolling my eyes I stood.

"I'll be able to know if they've found something." Mike raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms over his chest. "Its a vampire thing." He nodded.

"Well, let's get a move on shall we?" I nodded and made the bed. Mike gave me a sidelong glance before shrugging. He faded away as we walked to the lobby. A ceiling fan whirled around in a slow circle.

"Jacob." I smiled.

"Alexander!" The man reached across the counter and clapped my shoulder. "How are you bud?"

"I'm good, on a bit of a mission. How about you?"

"I'm alright. Business has been a little slow."

"Sorry about that." I slid the key over to him.

"Ah, that's alright. Luckily we still get... donors." A wicked grin graced his lips.

Donors? Mike asked inside of my head.

"Oh look, here comes one now." I turned to see a woman, no older than thirty walk into the lobby. She was scantily clad and wore heels so high she could topple over at any second. Jacob turned to me, winked and proceeded to walk over. I leaned on the edge of the counter.

Watch and you'll see what he means by "donor". Jacob met the woman with a kiss on the hand.

"How are you Izzy?"

"Im a ok, a little famished is all." The woman, Izzy, smiled.

"That's why I'm here darling." The woman swept her long chestnut hair aside.

Are you watching?

Of course I'm watching you nit wit.

Jacob held Izzy's head in his hands and leaned close. Opening his mouth two sharp fangs slid out of his gums. Without another word Jacob sunk his teeth into the woman's neck.

Homeboy is a vampire? I nodded and crossed my arms over my chest. So that's what he meant by donors?

Yup. I replied, popping the "p".

Gross.

Hey, all of them are willing. Jake never makes anyone give blood if they don't want to.

Oh whoohoo. He's an upstanding vampire. Let's give him a gold star because he's a good noodle.

I'm really over your attitude and sarcasm boy. I growled.

Oh shut up. How can he even be out during the day? Rubbing my temples I sighed.

He's like my brother Bram, he wasn't turned vampire, he was born vampire. Jacob can stand being in sunlight. I almost didn't notice my friend walking back until he made his presence known.

"I trust you'll be off soon?"

"Yes, I'm about to leave but first," I reached into my pocket and withdrew a picture. "Have you seen her?" Jacob looked at the photo of Rozalina.

"No." He shook his head. "I think I would have noticed a pretty little thing like that."

"Hey," I growled. "She's my pretty little thing." Jacob gave me a sidelong glance.

"What about Vivian?"

"You knew that would never happen, I don't love her." He shook his head and smiled.

"You know the Council will not be pleased." Sighing I looked down.

"I understand that but honestly I don't care." Taking the picture back I looked at him. "Please let me know if you see that girl ok?"

"Of course."

"See you later Alex, be careful."

"I always am." Turning towards the doors I waved once and left.

"Are there more set ups like this one?" Mike asked, appearing beside me.

"Oh yeah, there are way more vampires than you can imagine, we've assimilated ourselves over the many millennia." Opening the car door I sat. A rustling got my attention to the back. Turning, I saw something moving under one of my long coats. Moments later two ears popped out, followed by large eyes and a muzzle.

"Damn it Dexter." The cat meowed and moved up to the front.

"You didn't tell me we were traveling with a passenger." Mike smiled at the creature.

"I didn't know we were." I grumbled as the cat crawled in my lap. "You can't stay there little man." Picking him up I set him down in the back seat. Dexter meowed and sat, looking through the window.

"The three amigos ride again!" I narrowed my eyes at Mike before putting the car into drive. "Not funny?"

"Not in the slightest, amigo." Pulling out of the motel parking lot I continued my search for my beloved. Mike would not shut his trap the whole drive.

Vivian's P.O.V.

"How is the girl, Garth?" I asked, crossing one slim leg over the other.

"She's fine. You need to let her rest before going in for another round Vivian." Garth sat back in his chair.

"Don't tell me what to do dog." I growled.

"My name is not dog, bloodsucker." He said through clenched teeth. Pulling my lips into a smile I drummed my fingers atop of my desk. "You know Alexander will never love you right? Not the way he loves her."

"Shut your mouth you dirty mutt." Opening a drawer I retrieved my emery board. "Besides, I don't want him anymore, I simply want to make the girl pay for wrecking the life I had created for myself." Sharpening my nails to a fine point I looked at him. "You're caught in the girl's web too aren't you?" He looked down, a blush blooming across his neck. "I don't understand her allure, am I not just as beautiful?"

"Its not that, Vivian, it's about attitude." He looked me straight in the eye. "And your attitude is one of the worst." Clutching the side of my desk I flung the emery board at him. It hit its mark, bouncing off of his forehead.

"Leave." I ordered. Shrugging he stood and exited. Leaning back in my chair I closed my eyes. "Dear, bring mommy a drink." The creature scuttled from the shadows and fetched me a drink, scotch, and handed to me. "Thank you." I smiled and patted his head.

When doooo we eat herrrrrr?

"Soon, my darling. Very, very soon."
