Lianne got in the car feeling really ecstatic. She look at her friend Cheska who is sitting on the passenger seat next to her, busy ito sa pagtetext.
"Guess what?!" Lianne said, all smiles and with an obvious excitement.
Nag-angat ang kaibigan ng tingin. "What?" sagot nito na nagtataka.
She put her seatbelt on. "I just got a call from ninong and he said if I need a job I have to send him my resume or drop by his office anytime and he'll find me a position in their company." she said happily as she put the key to the ignition switch and she started the car.
"Wow! Three days pa lang since you arrived here may work na agad?" pabirong sabi nito sa kanya.
She smiled at Cheska then she maneouvered the car out of the parking lot.
"Ninong Tony is dad's client, nagkita sila this morning and dad mentioned to him na I am here, and staying for good" she answered while she maneouver the wheel. She continued, "maybe naisip ni ninong na I might need a new job so he thought of helping me" she answered with eyes on the road.
They spent the afternoon inquiring and checking out condos na pwede niyang lipatan. After that she treated her friend for an early dinner at a fine dining restaurant. They were supposed to go yesterday but Cheska called her saying she had an unexpected appointment and couldn't go. Ginugol na lang niya ang buong araw niya kahapon sa pag-aalaga at pagbabantay sa kanyang lola.
When she looked at the rearview mirror she saw a guy standing at the parking lot kung saan sila nakapark kanina. His built, height and posture seemed so familiar, pero malayo na sila para maaninag ang mukha nito. She just shrugged her shoulders and focused her attention on driving.
Lianne made a turn, nakaalis na sila sa restaurant property and are now heading south. Ihahatid niya si Cheska sa bahay nito.
"Wait, don't you wanna take a few days vacation muna?" Cheska queried.
She shot a glance at her at saka muling itinuon ang paningin sa kalsada.
"I already had three weeks of vacation in Cali before I got back here" she said.
"Pero Lianne, you haven't had the time to roam around after being gone for seven years." Cheska countered.
Her eyes wandered outside. With the shadowy light of dusk, she noticed ang dami ng nagbago sa QC since she left. There are more houses, business establishments, commercial centers, and infrastructures like buildings and improved roads. The city look different now.
"I guess I'll just get the time to do the roaming around in the future. Nakakamiss na rin magtrabaho and I don't wanna get rusty." biro niya pa dito.
Cheska laughed. "Sabagay, nakakabore pag walang ginagawa. Kaso lang I'm sure we'll hardly see each other na when you start working. Eversince kasi napakaworkaholic mo, para bang wala kang kapaguran, sobrang dedicated mo pa sa trabaho. Kapag nagstart ka na sa new job mo dapat once in a while magrerelax ka din, go out, take a time for yourself at wag masyadong subsob sa trabaho sige ka baka tumanda-"
"Hep!" putol niya sa mahabang sinasabi nito, she also raised her right hand gesturing her to stop. "Hay Frencheska, isa lang ang sinabi ko ang dami mo na'ng nasabi" she said while laughing.
"Julie Anne I'm just saying bawasan ang pagkabusy para wag mastress. Dapat fresh lagi para makahanap ka na ng boyfriend. Anyway, kumusta na ba si Sam?" panunukso nito sa kanya, she even raised her eyebrow.
Lianne stopped at the intersection upon seeing the red light.
"Sam? Bakit naman nadrag ang name niya sa usapan?" humarap siya dito.
