“Julie hindi ka na magbr-breakfast?” his father asked as he turned the page of the newspaper he is reading.

“Hindi na dad. We have an early staffers meeting today sa school so mauuna na ko. Bye!” she kissed her father’s cheek at saka lumakad na papunta sa front door.

“At least grab something to eat on the way!” pahabol na sigaw nito.

She just waved at him. Binuksan niya ang pinto at lumabas na. Cheska is on the way, nagkasundo sila na dadaanan siya nito to give her a ride to their school. May early meeting din kasi ang glee club na sinalihan nito.

Something caught her eye when she looked down, yumuko siya at kinuha iyon. It was a book tied with a white ribbon. She looked around wondering kung kanino iyon. At the bottom of the ribbon ay may nakasulat na ‘For Julie Anne’. She undid the knot and opened the book, she found a note scribbled there.

Julie Anne,

Since di mo nagustuhan ang peace offering ko yesterday, here’s another one.

Deeply confused, she checked out the book. “Nicholas Sparks? How did he know I like reading romantic novels?” she murmured then she continued reading.

I hope this time you’ll accept it, along with my friendship.

RJ

“Hindi ko pa naman ito nababasa, so I’m keeping it. Teka lang, paano nga pala to napunta dito? Pano nalaman ng RJ na yun kung san ako nakatira?” she asked herself. She looked at the note again.

P.S. I have my ways ;-)

Her eyes narrowed. She still remember how RJ confidently said those words kahapon. She put her hand on her hips.

“At talagang determinado siya.” She couldn’t help but think why he is doing this. RJ is a popular guy in their university and she’s just a nobody. He is tall, with a medium built body, mestizo at gwapo, with a dimples to die for while she is just plain Jane. Why is he putting so much effort into making friends with her? Madami naman ito’ng friends and she often see him with different girls, mostly pretty girls. She heaved a sigh. For all she knows, he is a player. She quickly discounted the idea, maybe he’s probably just a ladies man. But whatever it is, she know better, she’s not the type na basta basta nagtitiwala.

Nakarinig siya ng mahabang busina and she saw Cheska’s car. She shoved the book inside her bag at tumakbo na palabas ng gate.

“Ano ba’ng nangyari sa’yo Jules, ang aga aga mo namang tulala.” Cheska teased her pagkapasok pa lang niya sa sasakyan nito.

“Ano’ng tulala? Nainip lang ako kasi ang tagal mo’ng dumating.” she defended herself. She decided not to tell her friend about RJ’s peace offering gift.

“Tss. Nagpa-gas pa kasi ako. O siya sige na alis na tayo” she said ridiculously and drove the car.

She didn’t see RJ the whole morning, wala ang anino nito. She thought maybe he is done with his final exams and he’s now enjoying his semestral break.

They just had their lunch at Saint’s Alp Teahouse which is just in the corner of their university. She enjoyed their beef tips in garlic sauce, classic caezar salad and flavored tea which is served hot or cold. She and Cheska likes to explore some restaurants nearby, nakakasawa din kasi ang food sa cafeteria.

On their way to their car, she saw RJ sa di kalayuan kasama nito ang ilang kaibigan, they are making their way to the restaurant.

“Look Jules, kumakain din pala sila dito” Cheska pointed at their direction. “You wanna say hi to him?” she playfully joked.
