"Lianne!"
Her eyes flew to the direction of the voice and she beamed widely when she saw him waving at her from a distance.
As early as six thirty in the morning she drove to the airport to pick up someone. He asked her a favor para sunduin ito.
"Sam" she said ng makalapit ito sa kanya. They exchanged short hugs. Humiwalay siya dito and made a quick inspection of him.
Sam looked good, a wide smile was plastered on his face. It was obvious he was happy to see her again.
He was dressed casually, wearing a white shirt and dark pants. A backpack was slung on his shoulders and on his right hand, he was holding his suitcase.
Lianne gave him a mocking look, "Two weeks pa lang since I left and you can't survive without me?" she teased him.
"Don't flatter yourself missy. I was just forced to come here" Sam countered jokingly.
She gently hit him on his arm.
"Ouch!" he reacted at tumawa ito.
His familiar laugh made her laugh too. She realized she miss hearing his joyful laughter.
What he said was true, he was here for work. CMS, a local tv network bought a franchise of a game show from the creator which happened to be on the same tv station in California that he work for. He was one of the two representatives to facilitate and supervise the whole production of the show until its first two episodes.
"I'm sure you can say no if you don't want to.." she started walking to the parking area.
Sam followed and keep up with her, "I can but I wouldn't pass this chance to travel and of course to see you again. I've missed you Lianne" he was grinning from ear to ear.
Napilitan siya na ngumiti dito. Sam is very open with his feelings for her although she was honest with him from the start. She told him na hanggang kaibigan lang ang kaya niyang ibigay. But despite that, he was never discouraged. He plead her to just let him show how he feels and that he's willing to wait until she opens her heart again.
She checked her wristwatch, "I need to get to the office on time.." she stalled, contemplating what to do.
"I see. You can drop me off, I'll just take a cab to my hotel" he said in a dreary tone.
She smiled at him, "Hindi naman ako ganon ka-rude para iwanan ka na lang. Let's have a quick breakfast first then I'll drop you off to your hotel"
They stopped at a restaurant near his hotel which is also located in Quezon City. Lianne ordered cinnamon french toast and coffee while Sam asked for raspberry mascarpone crepe and orange juice.
They talked and updated each other. Sam and her used to work on the same tv station and same team pero nalipat ito sa ibang team three months bago siya nagresign. She eagerly asked about their friends and he told her about them.
Nagkwento naman siya dito ng tungkol sa bago niyang trabaho, bagong condo unit, about her friend Cheska and her grandmother.
"Too busy to call me huh?" he pushed a forkful of crepe into his mouth.
She glanced at him who was staring back at her, "I have a tough job Sam, you know how it is to work in the media world"
"Right. That's why you can't spare five minutes of your time" he was sarcastic but she knew nagtatampo ito. They have been friends for more than three years now and she can say na kilala na nila ang isa't isa.
"Sam I just got this job so I have to work hard and prove myself. It's different from what I do before and I'm just starting to get the hang of it" paliwanag niya dito.
