Chapter 1

Lianne closed the book that she is reading at itinabi muna niya iyon. She sit properly and fastened her seatbelt as the flight attendant instructs them to. They are about to land. She gaze outside the window of the plane and drew a deep breath. Yes, she's now back after seven long years. Back to her home. Back for good. 

She look at the sky outside. It is a little dark and hazy, the cotton-like clouds look black na nagpapahiwatig ng paparating na ulan. As she kept staring at it, a memory came flashing through her mind. A clear scenario of the painful past.

It was at a house party of her boyfriend's friend, more like a summer vacation celebration. 

The house was crowded with people smoking, dancing, drinking and everything else. She went outside to escape from the noise and because she felt like she couldn't breathe inside. 

Naglakad-lakad siya until she reached the garden. She stand there feeling the gentle air of that summer night. Maliwanag ang paligid dahil sa mga bituin. She look up and admire the beauty of the starry sky. Then she heard footsteps. 

Inayos niya ang eyeglasses at tumingin sa direksyon na pinanggalingan niya knina to see who it might be. It is Chrissy, isa sa mga kaibigan ng kanyang nobyong si RJ. 

Hindi sila malapit sa isa't isa because this girl has an attitude plus the awkward reality that Chrissy is RJ's ex-girlfriend. And up to now they remain friends, in fact matagal ang pinagsamahan ng mga ito, mula pa pagkabata. That's why she tried to reach out to her a few times pero mahirap talaga itong pakisamahan. 

"Julie" bungad nito sa kanya. Chrissy is pretty, the kind of girl that guys would take a second look at. 

"You know what? I thought matalino ka, being a consistent honor student.." sabi nito habang lumalapit sa kanya. She looks serious. 

"Huh?" was all she could say. Hindi niya alam kung ano ang kahulugan ng nais nitong sabihin. 

Chrissy swayed a little but regained her balance at tumawa. 

'She's drunk' she thought. She can even smell alcohol from her distance. 

Lumapit pa ito and pointed at her, "Pero you are so stupid, napakadali mo naman palang lokohin" Chrissy's voice sound very amused. 

It was a clear insult. She felt confuse sa mga binitiwang salita nito but she just remained silent. Lasing ito so she would just let it pass. She look at Chrissy who is looking back at her.  

"Do you really think na mahal ka niya?" tumawa ito ng malakas. 

"W-what do you mean Chrissy?" she stuttered. She felt like there is a big lump in her throat and an eerie feeling na nagsisimulang bumalot sa kanya. 

"Chrissy!" matigas na sabi ni RJ na kakadating lang. He hurriedly walk to them. 

"Oh andyan ka pala RJ. Me and your girlfriend are just having a little chitchat." may diin ang pagkakasabi nito sa salitang girlfriend which she noticed. Kumapit pa ito sa braso ni RJ at sumandal na parang naglalambing. Umiwas naman ito, he just ignored the girl then he walk closer to her. 

"Let's go Julie" he hold her hand and tried to pull her away from Chrissy. But she didnt move, she just stood there unsure of what to say and what to think. 

"Dont mind her Jules. Lasing siya" RJ told her. Humigpit ang hawak nito sa kamay niya, tumingin ito sa kanya na tila nakikiusap. 

Chrissy gently pushed him. "I am not drunk!" then she made a short chuckle. "But I think it's just about time na malaman niya ang totoo" she hissed, napalakas ang boses nito.
