Chapter 10

“Oh em freaking gee! Seriously? Sinagot mo na siya kagabi? How did it happen? Bakit ngayon mo lang sinabi sakin yan? Why didn’t you call me last ni—”

Julie covered Cheska’s mouth with her hand to silence her. They were at the school grounds para mag-enroll for the next sem.

“I knew madami ka’ng questions and talking about it over the phone wont be enough for you. Kaya I thought mas mabuti na sabihin sa’yo ng personal” Julie explained at saka niya inalis ang kamay na nakatakip sa bibig nito.

“Grabe ka girl. Do you really have to do that? Nabura na yata ang lipstick ko.”

Julie showed her hand. “Wala naman oh”

Cheska checked herself in her compact mirror, “Good” then she returned it inside her bag.

“You don’t realize you have a motor mouth, do you?” she mocked in a teasing way. “Kasi isa lang ang sinabi ko ang dami mo ng naitanong tapos ang lakas pa ng boses mo. Ang daming tao dito oh.” They were on a long queue waiting for the assessment, encoding and payment procedure.

“So what do we care? They should mind their own business. Kung gusto nila pag-usapan din nila ang mga love life nila”

“Sshh, hinaan mo nga yang boses mo” saway niya dito. They were earning curious glances from co-students near them.

“So tell me, after three weeks ng panliligaw sa’yo sinagot mo na? Mahal mo na ba si RJ?” Cheska asked in a hushed tone.

“Oo” she felt a lil embarassed, “I didn’t expect it myself. Basta naramdaman ko na lang” Julie kept her eyes lowered.

“Sabagay, who can resist him? Gwapo, mayaman, mabait, ang generous pa sa mga gifts tapos sobrang effort sa mga dates. Kung ako man yun kahit one day pa lang siyang nanliligaw sasagutin ko na agad”

“Sira” Julie laughed at her friend then she turned serious. “Pero I was thinking masyado yata akong nagmadali? Maybe I should’ve waited to get to know him more.”

“Ngayon ka pa ba magse-second thoughts eh sinagot mo na?” Cheska asked incredulously.

“Siguro dapat pinigilan ko muna ang sarili ko, to fall fast.” she leaned against the wall of the building near them.

“Alam mo, di naman yan napipigilan, our heart will beat fast and hard kung kelan niya gusto”

She gave out a heavy sigh.

Inakbayan siya ni Cheska, “I believe he loves you too so there shouldn’t be a room for doubts or worries okay?”

Julie realized she made sense. She smiled at Cheska for the encouragement she was giving her.

“Now ikwento mo na sa akin ang mga nangyari. In full details” Cheska commanded.

“Naiinggit na ko dito ah”

Their heads both looked up to Cheska who was sitting across from them. They were at the cafeteria.

“What? Wala naman kaming ginagawa. We were just comparing our schedules” Julie reasoned out.

“Yun na nga wala naman kayo’ng ginagawa pero ang sweet sweet ninyong tingnan” umirap pa ito sa kanila.

RJ laughed. “Can it get any sweeter than this?” he intertwined their fingers and kissed the back of her hand.

“Aww. Nakakainis kayo!” Cheska whined.

Julie took her hand back and hit him mildly on his arm. “Ikaw talaga, you’re a tease” she said jokingly.
