37 | Family reunion

Life has been thriving recently. I've been to few other games for the Aces to take some photos, which was pretty fun so I was away for a bit so now I'm catching up on some school work and some photo editing.

Kalea has been hanging out with Bryelle all day because she has no one else to hang out with. Everyone was busy. Our girlfriends were busy with practice and their workout and I was busy with homework so she had no one else. She needs to make more friends.

It was about 6 pm when I just finished my homework. I put my laptop away and my other stuff right when someone walked into my dorm. "Liv? You still alive?" it was Gabbie. "Yeah" I walk out my room to see what was going on. 

"Kate told me to come get you" I raise an eyebrow. "For what?" she shrugs and ushers me to get change so that's what I do. It was a colder day today and I feel like we're going out so I changed into some somewhat baggy jeans with a grey hoodie and a black puff jacket then the custom shoes Kate got me. 

Gabbie then drags me out of my dorm and to the school entrance where Kate, Kalea, Jada and Caitlin were waiting. "What's going on?" I ask them all but none of them would answer me. They just dragged me into Jada's car and we drove off. 

"White girl music?" Gabbie asks and we all agree and she starts playing Starship and we sign along. Soon enough, we arrive at a restaurant and we all get out. 

"Reservation for Kate Martin" so it was Kate's idea for whatever is going to happen next. "Right this way" we follow the host to a big ass table making me even more confused. It was a table for like 30 people if that was even possible. 

Kate pulls out a chair for me to sit and I thank her and she sits next to me while the others sit next to us. "So..." I start off but I get cut off by some familiar voices and I had mix feelings. I wanted to die but not at the same time. I look over and see Sofia, Jason and Matt and his family and my jaw drops. 

"Olivia!" Matt was the first one to spot me and pushes Jason out of the way and hugs me while I was sitting down. "Hi Matt" I mumble and he pulls away and Jason gives me a small hug. 

"Hey Liv" Sofia shyly say and I look over at her and give her a small nod. I'm still very mad at her for how she treated Kate. I then get up to hug Adam and Annabelle (Matt's parents) then give a little hug to Sofia. 

"Not to be rude or anything but why are you guys here?" I ask them. "Well, Kate invited us to watch her game tomorrow" I glance over at Kate and she quickly looks away and starts talking to the other girls. Little shit. 

I was about to say something but then my parents walked in with Ellie behind them. I smile and hug my parents then do my handshake with Ellie.

"Why are you never at basketball?" I ask her. I swear she's never at practices and stuff. She's always going places. "Let me fly back and sit on the couch for two days" she sarcastically say and I roll my eyes. 

"Thank you all for coming" Kate tells everyone as they all gather around the table. "Thank you for inviting us and arranging all of this" mom tells her with a soft smile. 

We ordered our food and talk about what we're going to do tomorrow since it's Saturday. The girls don't have anything to do until the game so we decided to do something. 

The guys were talking about a baseball game so they're going to that but then I decided that I also want to go so Kate and I will be joining Matt, Adam, my dad, Jason and maybe Ellie while the others go to the farmers market and do whatever. 

Our food arrived and we eat and chat some more. I stole some of Kate's fries because I regretted getting a salad. "Babe you can have them" I shake my head because I take them, she'll only have the burger and I know she's hungry. 

"Olivia, just take it" I shake my head and continue to eat my salad. "Excuse me?" Kate stops our waiter. "Yeah?" I glance over to Kate to see what she needed. "Can I get a side of fries?" I sigh but shake my head with a small smile on my face. 

"Is that everything?" Kate nods her head and the waiter leaves and to get some fries. "I didn't want any" I whisper to her. "I ordered them for myself" I know she's lying. 

"So, I'm taking a photography class" Matt starts off and I look up at him, giving him my full attention. "And I was wondering what camera I should get because I don't even know" I smile at him, happy that I get to talk with someone who has the same passion as me.

I talk to him about what camera would be best for what he's doing and the fries came. "You sure you do want some?" Kate asks looking at me with that face. "I'm sure" she shrugs and places the fries between us because she knows I will want to eat them later.

After a while, I started slowly eating the fries and I knew Kate was laughing in her head. We all had our desserts and paid then left. "Where are you guys staying?" I ask my mom. "Oh Kate got us an Airbnb and for the others" I slowly turn to the side and glare at Kate. She needs to stop spoiling them. Didn't know she was a grandma. 

"Kate" I glare at her. "Oh look at the pretty sunset" she looks up and walks towards Caitlin and them. Oh my god. "We'll see you girls tomorrow and thank you Kate again for all of this" I sigh and Kate gives me mom a hug before they leave. 

After they left, I walk up to Kate and the girls and glare at her. Hard. "Kate Martin" I cross my arms and she looks down at me. "You look beautiful as always" she tells me with a smirk making my glare falter a little. 

"Liv, just appreciate what she's doing for your family" Kalea tells me and I wanted to clock her shit right here. I sigh but pull into a hug and give her a kiss. I heard Kalea gagging in the back and I flip her off. 

Kate then gives me a piggy back all the way to the car and sets me right in front of it and opens the door for me and I thank her. We drive back to the school and chilled for a bit. 

"Movie anyone?" I groan at what Jada said. "I'm tired" I tell her but she didn't seem to care. "Come on guys. Just one movie" I shake my head and lean it against Kate's shoulder. 

"I think we're all pretty tired Jades. Maybe next time" Kate tells her and everyone agrees. "Fine. You guys are no fun" she mumbles and pulls up to the school and we all get inside and go to Gabbie and Jada's dorm. 

Kate sat on the couch and I rest my head on her lap as she plays with my hair while the others talk. "Guys, I got this new perfume today" Gabbie says and goes to her room and comes back with perfume. 

She sprays it making us smell it and it was pretty good. I might have to steal it one day. "What is it giving?" she asks us. "It's giving me a headache" I mumble and Kate kisses my head. "Let's go to sleep" Kate whispers to me and she manages to pick me up bridal style and we say our goodnight then she takes me to my dorm. 

"Want me to stay?" she asks and I nod my head and pull her next to me and I cuddle next to her and fall asleep. That night, I didn't even wake up once. Not even when Kate got up to go to the bathroom and fell on the floor and ran into the door. 

I'm just built different.
