Xavier’s POV:

Well, Hels and Wels were busy with work, but I stayed at the cafe with them. It was peaceful for the most part, and I got the chance to relax... until people started getting on my nerves.

I’ve learned something important during my time here. People can be really, really annoying. Some of them just think they can say whatever they want without thinking, especially when it comes to me. Not that I minded most of the time, but there were certain moments when I just couldn’t take it anymore.

I remember one time, this guy came in, looking all smug, like he was the king of the world or something. He was staring at me like I was some kind of circus animal. I don’t know why, maybe it was because I still wore my hoodie with the hood up most of the time. Maybe it was because of my antennas or the glow of my wings, but he looked at me like I was something beneath him. I tried to ignore him, but when he started muttering about how “freaks like me shouldn’t be out in public,” something inside me snapped.

I didn’t say anything, not at first. I just stared at him, letting the silence stretch out. But the more he talked, the more I felt the anger building up. And then it happened. The voice inside me, the one that had become so familiar, told me what to do.

Without even thinking about it, I opened a portal. One small rip into the void. And, just like that, the guy was gone.

He’d fallen in, as if the void had just swallowed him whole.

The best part? He never even saw it coming. The look on his face was priceless. One moment, he was there, running his mouth, and the next, he was gone. Just... gone. The portal snapped shut behind him like nothing had happened.

I felt this strange satisfaction, like I had done something right. The cafe was suddenly so much quieter, and I didn’t have to deal with his annoying voice anymore. People stared, and some of them whispered, but no one said a word about what happened.

I was careful. I always made sure no one saw me open the portal. But if people were too rude or too obnoxious, the void was my escape. They'd just vanish into it—no fuss, no drama.

Hels and Wels were busy, so I didn’t feel like explaining myself to them. They’d just have to deal with it if I did something weird. They knew by now that I was still figuring things out. Sometimes, a little chaos was necessary.

After all, it wasn't my fault people couldn't keep their mouths shut.

But I couldn’t help but smile a little. The quiet after the storm was so much nicer. And I could read without anyone bothering me. It was peaceful, and I could just focus on my book or doodling in my notebook. The best part was that no one really noticed anything. They just went on with their day, oblivious to the fact that someone had just vanished into the void.

The calmness that followed was like a breath of fresh air. I’d learned how to keep my abilities under wraps—most of the time, at least. I didn’t need to worry about getting into trouble. After all, who would suspect me? I was just a quiet guy sitting in the corner, minding my own business.

Sometimes, I’d catch people glancing at me, probably wondering if they had seen something they hadn’t. But they never spoke up, and I didn’t give them a reason to. As long as I kept my cool and stayed out of the way, everything was fine.

It was a strange, comfortable kind of freedom, one that I wasn’t sure I fully understood. But I liked it. And for the first time in a long while, I didn’t feel the need to explain myself.

That is, until... Wels caught me in the act. I had been so careful, but of course, the one time I let my guard down, there he was, watching me. Before I knew it, he was dragging me by the arm to my brother’s workplace, no doubt eager to tattle on me. I could practically hear the smugness in his footsteps.
