"I don't want you to die."
"I won't."
"Promise me. Promise me you'll stay."
"I promise. No matter what, we'll be together. Always."
It's quiet.
That was the first thing that came to Kiana's mind as she laid in bed, her arms resting by her side.
Her blue-colored irises linger on nothing in particular, merely watching the inking darkness surrounding her very limbs, suffocating the room in its grasps. She couldn't recall how many times she had trailed her gaze up and down that same abyssal scenery. She couldn't be bothered to tell at this point.
Nonetheless, she continued like this for a while longer, eyes blinking ever so often, only to be met with the same inky darkness she had now grown so accustomed to seeing. It took until the ninth, or was it the tenth? Time before the girl blinked and shut her eyes forcefully this time, squirming slightly as if trying to will herself to sleep.
That didn't work of course, the very fact that she was awake right now was only made more apparent by her actions.
She sighed before lifting herself up from the bed, her head turning to her side, eyes landing on the barely visible outline of a desk. The same one she had placed her recently acquired wristwatch from a certain violet-haired woman.
Kiana squinted her eyes, just barely managing to make out the shape of the watch sitting motionless on the desk, the digital number displayed on its glassy surface gradually growing visible to her.
This too, was something she had repeated multiple times tonight. At least, she believed that it was still the same day.
The number shown on the watch only helped to confirm that.
"2 a.m..."
Where is she?
The question inevitably rang inside her mind, her eyes breaking away from the watch and towards the far end of her bedpost. After some time, she could make out the outline of a door, the only exit out from this room she had been forced to be confined in for the past day.
It hasn't been opened since.
It felt almost ironic, how much effort she had put into everything. Getting the watch, guaging the time when her captor would leave and return, all so that she could make the perfect escape plan. By now though, it felt a little pointless that she did the latter, seeing as how late it already is.
At first, she didn't think much of it. It wasn't all that unusual to believe that that woman was slightly later than usual. She needed to be cautious about all this after all.
That was what Kiana thought, an hour after the set time she had marked down for the woman.
By the second hour though, Kiana became a bit more restless, and her previous thoughts grew more uncertain with each ticking minute.
By the third, there was no denying it anymore.
Whatever it was that was holding her captor from returning, had to be something big. Something that simply couldn't be resolved in a timely manner. Whatever it was though...Kiana wasn't sure if she wanted to imagine it.
Because for all she knew, that woman could have simply left her here, forever locked inside a single room for the remainder of her life. She didn't give off that vibe of course, not with how she acted last night, but trying to apply any amount of rationale on someone like that was a fool's game, even for Kiana.
