"If...you could begin again, to move forward and build upon a new foundation...would you?"

"...Are you asking me to forget?"

"...Yes. I want to forget."

"How despicable."

"I know."

"You're disgusting."

"I know. I still want to."

"..."

"Please."

"...Fine."

"Thank you."

"But if your life begins to crumble...if the 'past' can no longer be buried...I want you to understand this very clearly..."

"I will watch you fall."

"...Mei?"

"..."

"Mei."

"...?"

Raiden Mei's violet eyes briefly flickered with recognition at the voice, her downward gaze slowly lifting to meet Kiana's.

The girl stood only a few feet from her, her hair disheveled and tangled in places, dirt staining dark spots on her once pure white strands. Her face was a mess, tangled strands of hair clung to her forehead and cheek, visible dark circles under her tired blue eyes.

And yet, there was still a spark in those irises. Ones that made the woman named Mei unable to look away, even when her mind was elsewhere entirely.

Kiana looked away first, or rather, downwards, her hand slowly extending a single finger, gesturing to the ground.

After a few seconds, Mei's eyes seemed to flicker, her gaze dropping to the floor between them.

"...Ah."

The woman uttered a single sound, before slowly, she lowered herself to the ground, her hand —now coated in dried blood– reaching for the keychain she had dropped a little while ago.

Kiana watched her pick up the keys, watching the woman slowly straighten back up as she lightly grip it between her palms. There was no expression on her face. No confusion, no anger, no...life, beside the dimmest gleam in those once brightly shone indigo eyes. She looked hollow.

"..."

Kiana didn't remark, didn't speak. She wouldn't know what to say in this situation either way. So instead, she returned her gaze back to the dark hallway of the house she had just tried to escape not even an hour ago, and stepped forward.

"-Agh!"

The girl gasped sharply, her right leg suddenly losing strength. She glanced down at it, finding a blood red line running across her thigh, crimson trails seeping down her leg and onto the wooden floor.

"...Right..." She mumbled to herself, her fingers wandering down to touch the gash, only to immediately wince back the moment she felt the pain surge again. "O-ouch..."

"..."

Without her paying attention, the girl's painful gasps seemed to have lightly snapped Mei out of her haze, her eyes flickering with consciousness. Her attention was immediately drawn to the girl's injury. For a moment, she wondered where it had come from.
