I've been playing football in my head,
I've been patiently waiting for this game to end,
I've been tackling it with my mind,
I've been waiting for you to come around

When Ashton awoke on Saturday, Luke made sure to stay in bed for a little longer, so he wouldn't have to face him at breakfast

After the talk last night with his mum, he decided that he would avoid Ashton as much as possible whilst at home. He wasn't even sure why he disliked him, he just knew though, that he was not the type of person he'd like to be around. It also surprised him that Michael and Calum didn't mind him. They all usually seemed to agree on the things, especially when it came to people. In fact, before Ashton came along, Luke could not think of a single person that Michael and Calum liked and he didn't. Or that he and Michael liked and Calum didn't. Or that he and Calum liked and Michael didn't. It just didn't happen. So who the hell did Ashton Fletcher Irwin think he was?

When Luke heard Ashton leave the bathroom, he waited for him to trod downstairs before using the bathroom himself- silently hoping that the elder boy would have finished breakfast by the time he finished in the bathroom. When he was finished, then the blue-eyed boy crept down the stairs and peered his head around the kitchen door. He almost groaned out loud when he saw his room-mate sitting at the kitchen table- his back towards Luke. Why did he have to take so bloody long to eat?
Instead of turning to go back upstairs, Luke's stomach began to grumble and he quickly put a hand to it in hopes of silencing it. Swiftly, Luke walked into the kitchen, ignoring Ashton as he went to the cupboard to get some cereal. He discreetly glanced at Ashton, noticing he was on his phone whilst shoving Frosties into his mouth. His large fingers were scrolling down the screen, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration- and Luke began to wonder why he cared so much about what he was doing.

"What are you doing?" Luke said without thinking, and then proceeded to mentally beat himself up,

"What?" Ashton asked, looking up from his cereal and phone.

"I meant um.. Today. Are you doing anything today? My mum says we should hang out more..." Luke gave himself a mental round of applause for covering up his stupid question so well, which he still had not figured out why he had asked it.

"Um... Nothing really" The elder boy replied, his attention returning to his phone "I was going to study for that Geography test we have on Monday"

Luke rolled his eyes at the predictable answer, whilst he started to eat cereal straight from the box,

"We can study together?" Ashton tried "I mean... If your mum wants us to hang out more then..."

Luke almost choked on his coco-pops,
"Us? Study? Together? I think I'll pass" He muttered, putting his 'breakfast' away.

"Look, you suggested that we do something together-" Ashton started,

"My mum did" Luke cut in,

"But you wouldn't have told me if you didn't want to, would you?" Ashton shot back, rising from his seat.

Luke opened his mouth then snapped it shut, upon finding himself speechless- for possibly the first time in like 9 years.

Ashton stared at Luke a little longer, before locking his phone and pocketing it,
"That's what I thought" He said, as he turned and left the room.

Getting dressed and ready in one room was awkward for Ashton and Luke. Usually, Ashton would go and get dressed in the bathroom but he could not do that seeing as Jack was showering. What made the situation even more awkward was that they had both had an argument, making the tension in the room almost tangible.
