Dedicated to @wet_shoes because who knows where I'd be without her
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun
-Here comes the sun // The Beatles"That the last one?" Anne asked, watching her son set down a huge cardboard box in the hallway. Ashton nodded, wiping the sweat off his forehead.
"That's the last." He confirmed. He paused for a second, before opening the front door a little wider and waving off the removal men. The men waved back, before taking the hint and driving off. The boy slumped against the front door, his face sweaty and his fingers calloused, a strong feeling of tiredness hitting him, after lifting all those boxes. He knew it wasn't his mother's fault that she was not very strong, and it wasn't his siblings' fault that they were still young, but either way, Ashton had silently wished the whole time, that he could maybe have gotten some help. The sandy-haired boy watched his mum walk over and reach up to kiss his face, although he quickly moved away.
"I don't think you'd like to touch me right now, mum" He chuckled at his confused mother. Anne laughed and agreed, before patting his shoulder,
"When you catch your breath again, Ashton, then could you please move the boxes into the living room?"
Her son had to resist the urge to groan or roll his eyes, but instead smiled down at his mum,
"Sure."***
Ashton stepped out of the shower and into his room, his hair wet and dripping, his body naked- aside from a towel that hung around his waist. He walked into his room, saying a mental prayer as he thanked the lord for en suite bathrooms, so he wouldn't have to roam the hallway half naked- something that he knew his mother hated. Before rummaging for clothes, Ashton took a brief glance around his new room. The walls had been painted white approximately a week or so ago, with a strip of blue along the bottom- making it look like waves on the beach. His bed was in one corner, the duvet covers the same tint of blue as the walls, and his desk stood in the opposite corner- which he knew, once he unpacked, that it would become cluttered like it had been before they moved.
Aside from his wardrobe, and a huge blue rug in the centre of the room, the rest of Ashton's bedroom was nothing but cardboard boxes. He sifted through a few things before finding his suitcase, in which he had packed as many clothes that would fit.
The hazel-eyed boy pulled out a pair of boxers, and was trying to find a pair of sweatpants, when he heard a shout. Raising his head from his straining suitcase, he stood up and padded over to the window, and looked out to see four boys. Well, two young men and two boys. Ashton continued to stare out the window, watching as the four males played a fun game of cricket- which, even though he barely understood the sport, he always found enjoyable to watch.
Suddenly, the youngest child looked up and straight at Ashton. The younger boy grinned, before saying something and pointing towards the window in which Ashton stood.
Just as the other three turned around, the exposed boy quickly shrunk behind his white-and-blue-curtains, his cheeks red and his heart racing.
Oh god that was close. After Ashton had changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt, then he made his way downstairs to move the boxes he had been ordered to move earlier.
To his surprise, the job had already been done, and his younger siblings were beginning to put things away into their rightful places, and as he opened his mouth to ask about the situation, his mother came through the French doors, a smile on her face as she spotted her eldest son.
"Who moved the boxes?" Ashton asked, a hint of relief in his voice that he was desperately trying to hide,
"I did" Anne smiled proudly, "With a bit of help from Harry and Lauren. You deserved a rest" The boy smiled at his family gratefully, before his mum spoke again,
"Come and meet the neighbours, they're lovely"
Ashton's eyes widened as he hesitated before making his decision, oh god they're going to think I'm a creep or a stalker or both- most likely both.To his surprise there was a single blonde woman standing on the other side of the fence, as she spoke to his mother.
"Hey" Ashton smiled politely, as he approached her
"Hello Ashton" The woman smiled brightly "I'm Liz."
"Oh, nice to meet you Liz" Ashton responded, as Liz smiled again,
"Nice to meet you too. You know you look about the same age as my Luke, I can call him if you'd like, I'm sure he'd love to meet y-"
"Oh, no no no..." Ashton drifted off, although his voice was firm "I was just going inside, I have stuff to unpack and... stuff. Maybe another time, bye Liz."
"Oh, bye Ashton!" She called after him as he hurried back inside.Ashton did not want to meet someone he had been spying on.

Okay hey, thank you for reading !!
This is my first fanfic on wattpad, and this first chapter is pretty short and kinda sucks but i swear it'll get better,
Also, I'm going to try and add a song to the beginning of each chapter that will probably relate to the chapter. The song for this chapter was pretty much irrelevant though oops
One more thing- Luke and Ashton are the same age in this fic, just so you don't get confused
