"How come you haven't tried to resolve this problem?" Asked Mr. Pratt.

"I have! They won't listen to me and-"

"I mean with an adult." He interrupted.

"Because I don't want them to think I'm a tattle tale," I muttered.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"I said I don't want them to think I'm a tattle tale!" I repeated, raising my voice.

"If they're bullying you, they deserve detention. Who cares if they think your a tattle tale anyway?"

"I do." I said quietly.

"Let me write you a pass and then you can go. What's your next class?"

"PE with Ms. Darwin."

He started to write up a slip and then gave it to me.

"I'll have a word with the principal." He said. Then I left the room.

When I got to PE, Ms. Darwin gave me a skeptical look.

"Here's my pass," I said to her. I held it out and she took it.

"Have a seat." She said, pointing towards the back of the class. Then I heard a snicker.

I turned and saw Janeth, looking over next to her at Macy, who were both laughing.

At least Stella's not in this class.

"Ok class! Today we are going to be running the mile," informed Ms. Darwin as the class let out a groan.

"Numbers 1-30 go line up, and 31-54 stay here. You'll be going second," demanded Ms. Darwin.

We are all assigned numbers going in alphabetical order, and I'm number 52, so I'll be going second.

I watched as Ms. Darwin blew the whistle and everyone started running.

7-9 minutes later, it was my turn to go.

I was waiting at the line for her to blow the whistle. When she did, I started running, pacing myself.

What I didn't notice was Janet's foot in front of me, and I fell to the floor with the loud thump.
