"Ms. Vasquez... Why are you late?"

I sat down in my seat without answering.

"Don't ignore me!"

"Because I got distracted..." I murmered.

Macy laughed. Too bad she was in this class.

I decided I've had enough of this.

I stood up in my seat and looked at her straight in her eyes. I was ignorinng everyone's stares, and even the teacher was silent.

"What. Did. I. Ever. Do. To. You?!!" I asked in a low but firm voice.

She just giggled like my anger was just a joke.

"Do you forget that there are other people, and that everyone has feelings? You have no right to bully me!"

"I thought we were friends!"

"The key word there is "were". Plus, I don't think you understand the definition of a friend. A friend is someone who you have gained trust from, who will always make you feel better, and will always help you up when you fall (most of the time after laughing or while laughing because that's what friends do). Friends are the people who make you smile and who make you want to continue the hard journey of life. I think the definition you know is 'a person who you talk to.' Newsflash, Macy. Not everyone is your friend."

I felt so deep in that moment.

"You go girl," I heard Taylor say very quietly from the corner of the room. That made me smile for a split second.

"Ok," Macy said, standing up, "One, girl you need to calm down. Take a chill pill. Two, I think everyone in this room is my friend. They all treat me with respect."

"Prove it," I said, crossing my arms.

"Okay. Raise your hand if your my friend."

Nobody moved.

"I don't think they heard me."

She said it louder and still, nobody moved. The teacher was still too stunned to talk.

"Everyone's scared of you." I clenched my teeth.

"What's to be scared of?" She asked, gaping.

"Oh I don't know, you treating them like you treat me."

She slowly sat down in her seat, and I walked over to her desk. I put my hands on the desk and looked her square in the eye.

"You wouldn't like it if I treated you how you treat me." I whispered so only she could hear.

Then I sashayed back to my seat proud of myself.

"Teach," Macy's shaking voice croaked out.

And so the teacher began the lesson.
