We ran out of the store and into the Dollar Tree next to it. We entered panting.

"Are you two alright...?" An old lady asked us.

"Yea, we're fine," I said in between breaths. She walked away.

"Rain?" Connor said, but he wasn't panting as much as I was, considering I had to run on clutches.

"Yea?" I replied, leaning on one of my clutches for support.

"That was amazing."

I smiled.

"I didn't know what came over me! One second I was-"

"Y'all gonna buy somethin? If not then y'all know where the door is," a worker said in her Oklahoma accent.

"Sorry ma'am," Connor said politely. I nervously grinned.

"Cut me some slack, I'm crippled," I replied. Connor and I died of laughter while the lady just rolled her eyes and went back to the cash register.

That made us laugh even harder.

"Lets go outside where there's a bench," Connor said. He helped me get myself together and we walked out the door.

There was a bench close by that I sat on right when we got here.

"Can this leg just heal already?" I complained.

"Be patient, it takes time," Connor said, "Plus I get to take care of you more." He grinned at me.

"True I don't want that to ever stop," I said only half joking. We both nervously laughed.

"Thanks," I said.

"For what?"

"Being so nice to me. I really appreciate it."

"It is my pleasure," he said.

Then I heard a honk. I looked over and saw my mother waving at me from her car. She was parked right up against the curb.

"I better go," I sighed.

"Good to hang with ya," he said, waving.

"Bye," I said. He helped me up and then waved again.

I hopped over to my moms car without another word.

The whole time I'm thinking I'm so glad I found someone like Connor.
