Recap:

When I got inside my car I turned it on and was about to leave Seven’s driveway when a white piece of paper on the passenger’s side caught my eye. I picked it up and started to read the paper:

<><><><><><>

Anna … I need to talk to you, meet me at 1261 Anchor Grove (Starbucks). Tonight 6:30 p.m...

- Seven

With a loud sigh I folded the paper and placed it in my glove department. Not fully knowing if I was going to go or not...

Soon, I pulled out of the driveway with ramped thoughts.

My mind was buzzing with what the hell I just did -- or what I did last night. It was all too much and I figured that I didn’t want to go home. Just as that thought crossed my mind my cell phone rang.

Reaching down, I picked it up and saw that it was Carollena. “Hello,” I answered solemnly.

“Finally, you’ve answered! I was wondering when you plan on being home, seeing as you are driving my car.”

With furrowed eyebrows, I looked around and noticed that sure enough I was in her car. A sigh escaped my lips and I grunted realizing I would have to go home. “I will be there in five minutes.”

“Okay and your boyfriend is over here. He crashed on the couch last night after telling me you stood him up. He wanted to wait up for you.”

My foot stumped on the brake, and I was fortunate enough to not have a car behind me. But even if I did, it wouldn’t have mattered, because I was in shock.

Leaven was at my house! Waiting for me...

“A-a-c-tually I have to go to the school, a teacher meeting,” I lied.

“Anna, I know you are a teacher and you have long hours, but since when do you have to work Sundays?”

“Ummm, the parent I’m meeting with works during the week and is only off on Sunday,” I untruthfully spoke.

“Isn’t that against the law to only have one day off-”

“I have to go, I am at the school,” quickly I turned off the phone. I didn’t want to hear Carollena slowly start to put the puzzle pieces together and catch me lying.

Part of me started to heavily debate on what I should do to avoid going home. Just then I figured that maybe I should head to the school and get my classroom ready for tomorrow’s lesson. With an elongated exhale I made a U-turn and head for the school.

When I pulled into my parking spot I heard a humming noise from my phone. Looking at it I saw that Carollena sent me a text.

Carollena: You can use my car today. Heaven is picking me up in an hour. You’re lucky I don’t have to run errands today. Take care of my car, one scratch and you are dead meat.

With a light chuckle, I turned off my phone and got out of the car.

With my master key I was able to get in the school and go to my classroom. Once in I flicked on the lights.

The smell of bleach and plastic filled my nostrils. The odor this school give off is displeasing, but I’ve got to make do.

Going over to my desk, I started organizing papers, and even grading some. I took the time and made copies of tomorrow’s worksheets. Then, I placed them on all of my student’s desk. It was about mid afternoon -- 3:00 p.m -- when I finished with all the work I could do.

Standing up and walking over to the door I began to leave, but realized I was still in Leaven’s clothes. Luckily, I remembered that I kept an extra set of clothes in my desk drawer. Striding over I went and got them out.

Something about changing in my room didn’t feel right, so I marched out of my classroom and down the hall. Finally, I reached the girl’s bathroom. When I got in I quickly got dressed.

Once done I exited the bathroom and saw in the middle of the hallways was our janitor Mr. Jones.

He looked up at me through his big rimmed glass as I started to walk down the hall. “Hello, Ms. Faylin,” he stated in his hoarse voice.

“Hey, Mr. Jones, how are you doing today?” I asked him.

He nodded his white head, “Oh, good I guess ... some man asked if you were here, I led him to your room. He is waiting for you.”

“M-man?” I quizzed.

“Yes, fine young boy, he told me his name ... yet, it seems my memory is failing me, once again...”

I looked at the elderly janitor and sighed. “It-it’s okay ... I’ll see you around...”

Mr. Jones nodded and then started to work again.

My legs started to slowly carry me to my classroom. Mr. Jones’ words rang through my mind: ‘He is waiting for you.’
