Sitting in the loud waiting room, I rested my head back on the wall. I really hated hospitals and as of right now I was wishing nothing more than to not be here. Problem was that the doctor that over saw my injuries only had a practice here at the third floor of the local hospital. To add to my discomfort there were screaming babies and over dramatic woman and men scattered around the room. The doctor I was seeing just had to take walk-ins on today.

“Relax, Anna. You look like you are about to have a panic attack,” Carollena whispered to me.

Glancing over at her, I gave a big inhale before exhaling. “Sorry, I’m just-”

“Not a fan of going to the doctor’s office. I know, I know,” Carollena said as she closed the magazine that she was reading moments ago. “So, tell me, how are the little rugrats at your school? Still making your life Hell?” She asked, clearly trying to distract me.

“Umm, yeah the last time I was there they were,” I informed her as my nervous settled and I eased into a conversation with her.

“Ever thought about having their behinds become friends with a wooden paddle?”

“Everyday, but I can’t spank someone else’s children.”

“And why not?”

“Well, it can be against the law in certain cases and secondly, I really don’t believe in physical punishment. I am more for a ‘sit in the corner until you can tell me you are sorry and won’t do it again’, kind of person.”

“No wonder they don’t listen to you. You need to show them who the boss is. A paddle would cut straight to the point.”

"Carollena that is not-”

“Annabelle Faylin,” a voice broke through the loud noises of the room.

Like an automatic reflex, I stood up. “Here,” I waved my hand to show the blonde haired nurse I was here. Looking down at Carollena, I spoke. “Are you staying out here?”

“Thought I would as long as you promise me that you will tell the doctor about the dizziness you were experiencing this morning. I fear it is from the ... robbery.”

I gave a faint smile and nodded, “promise.” With that I went over to the door that the nurse, who called my name, was.

She gave me a friendly smile that revealed dimples on both sides of her face. “How are you doing today?” The nurse inquired as we walked down a long, white walled hall.

Glancing over at her, I replied. “Okay ... you?”

“Good, good,” she informed me and then pointed to a wooden door. “This is your room. You can go in and take a seat. Your appointed nurse will be in to take your vitals soon.”

“Do you have a restroom?” I questioned, even though I knew they had one. But, I figured I would be polite and ask so I didn’t just wander around and they think I am some nosy person.

“Yeah, just go down this hall and take a right. But, before you go do you know if they are taking urine from you today?” The nurse asked.

I shook my head, “I have no idea.”

“Okay, let me get you a cup and we can go ahead and collect just in case.”

Several minutes later, I was sitting in my room while staring up at the ceiling. I gave a small huff as my head started to hurt, closing my eyes I began to pray that I wasn’t getting a headache. Knowing my luck I would get a headache and then have to suffer for a couple hours before getting home and taking some medicine.

A knock on the door sounded before a voice broke through the silent air. “Are you Ms. Faylin?”

Looking over at the door, I saw someone that I really was hoping not to run into today, “Jenny?”

Giving me a smile, she walked in and closed the door behind her. “Hey, girl! I’d a feeling this was you,” she bubbly stated as she pointed to the chart in her hands. Placing it down on the counter beside the bed I was laying in, Jenny grinned from ear to ear. “How are you?”

Sitting up, I tried to mimic her saccharine smile, but I failed the minute my lips twitched up. “Good, I guess.”

Taking the red stethoscope from around her neck, she placed it on my chest. “Well, that is good. You look a lot better, injury wise ... I visited you a few times in the hospital. Yet, whenever I came in, you were pasted out.”

I looked at the woman before me and gave a deep frown. She was too nice, too sweet, and I have committed horrible sins towards her for I’ve slept with her fiancé. Jenny didn’t deserve this.. “Oh ... thank you ... for coming, I mean...”

“No sweat, I just feel really bad about what happened to you,” Jenny admitted as she put the blood pressure cuff around my arm “I mean, that is not why I came, because I felt bad for you, but I just ... I just felt-”

I cut her off as she seemed lost on how to complete her sentence. “I get it and I’m grateful … I thought you worked in another part of the hospital, like the intensive care department.” I added, hoping to shift the conversation in another direction.

“I get bounced around departments a lot. I mostly work with this doctor at his practice here and I also work in the maternity section of the hospital. But, it changes day by day for me.”

 “Oh, okay…”

A comfortable silence consumed the air around us and it wasn't long before Jenny was taking the last of my vitals. “Hummm,” Jenny said as she looked at the thermometer that she just took out of my mouth.

“What?”

“Nothing major, you are just a few degrees above normal. Dr. Clint will probably want blood work to make sure you are not sick or coming down with something.”

“I have been having dizziness. Well, just this morning...”

Jenny gave me an off look and then walked over to my chart. She set the thermometer in her scrub pocket and flipped open the yellow covered chart. “Any headaches recently?”

“If now counts ... Oh and I did have one a few days ago, on my trip to the cabin ... But I tend to get headaches from time to time. In college I was in a car wreck, ever since then I get headaches on and off a lot.”

“Okay, any nausea, blurred vision, or feeling out of breath.”

“No nausea or blurred vision, have been out of breath here and there, but I think that is from my sore body...”

Jenny tilted her head to me and gave an unsure look.

“What?” I questioned as the look she was giving me made me feel like I was saying something wrong.

“Nothing,” she muttered and then turned her attention back to the chart. “How about any bloating?”

“I ate a lot during my trip to the cabin with Heaven, Carollena and Seven. So-”

Jenny’s head snapped back over in my direction. “Seven?” Her eyes said it all. Seven didn’t tell her he went to the cabin with us, he lied to me – to both of us...

I immediately felt my heart drop. Oh, for the love of rosemary tell me I was not really in this situation...
