Opening my eyes, I found that I was in a dark room. Sitting up with a jolt, panic settled in my chest because at first I could see anything. Darkness was claiming me and my vision was failing. Yet, after mere seconds of heavy panic, my eyes adjusted to the room. I sighed in relief when I saw that I was in my bedroom. For a minute, I swear I thought Leaven had kidnapped me so he could carry out his punishment.
I rested back down on my bed and wiped away the small beads of sweat that’d escaped the pores on my forehead.
“What is wrong?” A voice said from beside me.
I grinned remembering how Seven had fallen asleep next to me and I followed in suit a few minutes later. Turning my head, I opened my mouth to speak. Yet, the moment my eyes landed on the person next to me, my voice was caught in my throat.
The man that laid next to me smirked wider. “You okay, Anna? You seem a little pale.”
"L-Leaven, what are you doing here?” I barely asked above a whisper.
“See darling,” he spoke as he touched my face with his index finger. “You disobeyed me and you shall pay.”
“No, please don’t hurt me! Please! I’m not with Seven! I am not with him! Please! Don’t hurt..."
“Anna! Wake up! Anna, Honey, wake up!” I heard a voice say.
Soon everything around me fell dark and I no longer felt the cold fingers of Leaven on my face.
Truly opening my eyes I came face to face with Seven. He was straddling me and had a loose grip on my shoulders. His green eyes were swirling with worry as the lamp by my bed illuminated the room. The moment we locked eyes he let go of me, but didn’t move.
“Anna, what was your dream about?” Seven asked with a dragged out tone. With my lips firmly pressed together, I knew that I couldn’t tell him. I couldn’t tell anyone. Abruptly, I saw Seven’s hand come towards my face. I flinched in reaction. Slowly, Seven moved his hand away as he saw how I reacted. “I’m not him,” Seven hissed before clutching my face with his warm hands. With his thumb he wiped away tears that had fallen from my eyes.
Without warning, I started to cry. My world was crumbling and Seven was the only one that seemed to know why. Yet, I knew deep down I couldn’t let Seven hurt Leaven.
Leaven was always a better fighter. The memory of how Leaven would always fight Seven’s battles growing up still stained my mind. There was no way that Seven could fight Leaven, he would lose. “Don’t do anything stupid,” I begged as I touched Seven’s right cheek. The stubble of his skin only reminded me how real this was. I was truly in this situation and Seven was actually here.
“I will kill him, Anna. You are not his first victim and will not be his last if he lives. A few years back, he killed a girl, Anna. The only reason he escaped was because they didn’t have proof of his crime.”
“Why do you live with him?” I questioned. “How come you didn’t turn him in? You have never liked him.”
“I live with Leaven so I can keep an eye on him. Make sure he doesn’t strike again. The reason I didn’t turn him in was because I too have no proof of his sins, just an undying suspension. As for not liking my brother all these years, I know now that that is because he got you and then emotionally hurt you. If back then I was willing to murder him from something mental, I am telling you now that his physical abuse will not go under the radar.”
“Why would you want to condemn yourself to prison time-”
“He is hurting you Anna!” Seven exclaimed with a slightly raised voice. “There is no getting out of it. He will kill you … if I don’t get to him first.”
“Seven-”
“He knew you were here. Leaven knew where you moved to ... I didn’t see his plan as to why he was moving here until recently. He has planned this Anna, for a while...” Seven lingered on his last words before looking away from me.
I saw the wheels in his mind turning. Seven was going to make a costly mistake, just for me. I knew without a doubt that I couldn’t let him do what he was planning. Not really knowing what I was doing, I leaned forward. Roping my hands around his neck, I brought Seven down to me. Slowly, I kissed his soft lips with heavy eagerness.
Seven kisses were passion filled as he started moving his lips away from mine and trailing them down my neck. Even so lightly, he rubbed his teeth on my neck, as a moan escaped my lips. Grabbing my waist, Seven rolled under me, causing me to be the one hovering over him. Slipping his hands under my shirt, I gripped his hair and sighed in contentment as our lips moved in sync.
My plan was working, I was distracting Seven, by repeating the same mistakes I made the night before...
