There was a chill in the air when you woke up, but the first thing on your mind wasn't the cold. It was rushing to your balcony and looking to see if he was still where he said he was going to be. When you pulled back the curtain that covered the sliding glass doors, you didn't expect to see what was in front of you. Predictably the weather had finally chilled enough to trigger a large snowfall but the sight of multiple small snow men that dotted your front yard was what caught you off guard. At first you suspected some of the neighbor children had pulled a small prank on you, but as you turned to see the lack of your reoccurring yard ornament, it had you thinking a different culprit was at fault. Wanting to investigate further, you slipped on a pair of shoes and grabbed for your coat, slipping it over the pajamas that you hadn't had a chance to change out of yet and taking a step outside. You walked to the edge of your railing and let out a chuckle at the scene.
"I got a little carried away but...once one of the kids saw me help another...they all wanted their own snow human." Megatron's voice didn't come from where it usually did, so you looked down, not expecting to see him in a seated position. He was gently rolling a medium sized ball of snow in his hands. it reminded you of the same way you would roll a ball of Play-Doh or a meatball. "Although I don't know why they would be called snowmen, they don't look like men at all." A smile grew on your face as you watched him place the snowball on a slightly larger, already rolled up one.
"You're not cold?" You asked playfully. He didn't answer at first but instead turned his face to you and shrugged.
"It isn't so bad." He slowly stood up, shaking any remaining flakes from his frame and swiping his hands together. The sounds of laughter rang out from the ground causing your head to turn at the new noise. You watched as some of the kids had started building a wall of snow while some others rolled smaller snowballs, putting them in a pile of others. You put together what they were doing. You then noticed that for the first time that week, you felt...nice. The weather might have been cloudy and cold but for a reason you couldn't shake, your mind felt at peace. It was as if every worry you had in your brain from the previous day had been washed away with your dreams. And in its place, you felt excitement at the prospect of your future. Fear was still there but it wasn't as strong as it had been before. Even with the approaching holiday's, the bittersweet taste in your mouth that had been bothering you every hour you were awake had started to taste sweeter and not as bitter.
It was finally starting to look like winter. Which meant a slew of holiday's were coming up. It wouldn't be the first holiday you had spent in this world, but it was the most family orientated one out of the roster. Yet a part of you felt as if you were surrounded by more family than you ever had been before. The usual guilt you felt for letting yourself be happy wasn't as strong, in fact you didn't feel any for having left your old world. There was this feeling in your chest however, that grew bigger for every day you spent with the gray mech. It was increasingly harder to hold it in and keep it down. It was as if every thought that crossed your mind was crawling up your throat, trying to escape from your mouth. (That wouldn't be a problem if your thoughts had been anywhere close to PG.) But all of that seemed to fade away as a single thought kicked its way to the front. And when you thought it, you couldn't stop thinking it.
In some deep part of your heart a growing, knowing and horrifying feeling was taking root. Speed growing through you, vines flooding your lungs making your breathing shallow for just a second as you realized what this feeling was. It was bound to happen, but you didn't think it would take over so quickly.
You loved him.
You only knew what this was because of books you had read and movies you had seen before, but it was obvious. The way your breath caught when he looked at you, the way your face burned and heart raced when you thought of him, the way you'd wished and hoped that he couldn't read your mind because you couldn't be the first one to say it. So, you sat in wishful silence, waiting for him to be the one to bring it up.
