The first thing you noticed was the smell of winter that drifted through the cracked window. It mixed into the natural smell of your room, wafting over your face like a cool gentle breeze. You remembered opening it last night, just slightly, after finding out Megatron was practically a walking, talking, living heater. It brought you back to your walks through the forest, almost like pine and rosemary would forever remind you of all the uncertainties you had about the robot-turned-man who slept beside you.
You turned to him, silently watching his face as he slept. He looked peaceful, his eyes still closed and mouth in a straight line. He looked like he didn't have any worries anymore. You watched the slight rise and fall of his chest, a part of you still reeling from how human he looked. It wasn't even uncanny. Outside looking in, you wouldn't know if you didn't know.
You lifted your head from the pillow, attempting to sit up. The events of last night flashing behind your eyelids every time you blinked. You were lost in thought for a moment when a pair of strong arms wrapped around your midsection. Only then did you pause and look over to the man who had innocently slept next to you all night. You had remembered coming home, kissing until your lips bruised and then dancing to soft music in your kitchen. It was sweet, and new, and decent of him to make up for the dance he didn't get a chance to ask for at the banquet.
You let out a content sigh, and moved your hand to pet at his hair, combing your fingers through the tangles that had formed during the night. You noted how real it felt, how it didn't seem synthetic. He let out a hum and pulled you back into a lying position. You didn't mind the feeling of his body encompassing yours, the way that his hand laid on your waist, holding you close to him. Or the way his head nuzzled into your neck, sending shivers up and down your spine with every artificial breath he took. His arm that slithered under your pillow moved as he adjusted. You thought you would have been uncomfortable being cuddled up to like a doll, but you weren't. Instead, you were overjoyed to feel the warmth of his chest on your back.
"We have to get up soon," you whispered, matter-of-factly.
He just chuckled and softly whispered back. "I haven't rested this well in over a million years. Everything else can wait." He moved his head down from your neck and nuzzled his face into your back, making it clear he wasn't getting up anytime soon. You turned in his arms, wanting to be able to face him, catching the brightness of his red eyes in the beams of sunlight that scattered through your window and curtains before he lazily shut them.
He was right. Everything else could and would wait. You had no idea how long you would be able to cherish the closeness of his body and face. So as long as you could hold him, you would.
Everything else could wait, except your grumbling stomach it seemed.
"Oh, that's right." He hummed, there was a slight disappointment in his tone, "Humans require daily sustenance." He opened his eyes again, holding your gaze in his own. You just wanted to lay there, holding the warmth of him for as long as time would allow you, but your hunger made its presence known once again.
"I can wait." You tried to justify but he didn't listen. The blanket fell loosely to his lap as he sat upright and you watched as the very human-like muscles under his gray suit shirt moved with his body. You tried not to stare so you thought of other things instead. You knew it couldn't have been comfortable to sleep in a dress shirt, but your eyes held no guilt as you flashed looks at his back. Watching the way his broad shoulders stretched the material as he shifted.
"Are you ready?" He asked, turning to you and catching your gaze in an iron grip. Despite the cracked window letting in a fresh cool mid-winter morning breeze, your face felt like it was on fire as you quickly shifted your eyes away, feeling like you'd been caught doing something scandalous.
