"It was maybe a second, not even that, a half of a second before everything changed."

The lights were flashing. Machinery clanking, as it was broken apart. Sparks flying as if the metal machines were shocked at what was occurring. I didn't have time to be shocked, to look around and see what was going on. It didn't matter. I knew I had to run, to keep running. I couldn't look back to see what was coming, what would be there soon. I had to keep running, and running, and running.

"Ouch!" I screamed. The feeling of static filled the back of my shin as I fell to the ground behind the metal communicator.

"Come on!" Danny yelled in my direction. "We gotta move!"

I got up without hesitation. Danny was right. We were supposed to be out of there soon.
"Here, in here." Danny said as we rushed inside of a closet. "We'll be safer in here."

"What do we do now?" I asked when we were inside the closet.

There was a keyboard and a small screen which had a broadcast of what was happening around us.

"I don't know." Danny said as he began to press buttons around him.

I followed thinking that it was the best option to safety. "Why is the green light blinking?" I asked. The sound of buzzing became louder.

"It's supposed- wait, blinking?"

"Yes."

"That's not good."

"What? But you said we would be safe in here."

"No, I said we would be safer."

"What do we do now? And what is this?" I said, pointing at the flashing green circle.

"This," It was Officer Sir. "This is what ignorance does." Officer Sir said as he walked into our closet with a static launcher in his hand.

The small closet became a room, signaling that the stimulation was over.

"Good job for your first day, but next time, remember to turn off the security cameras before you make your escape. Hasty escapes make for dangerous journeys and, we wouldn't want that would we?"

"No, Officer Sir." Danny and I said at the same time.

"Okay. That's all. We can pick up tomorrow." Officer Sir said.

"Pretty good for a first day, huh?" Danny nudged me as we walk outside.

"No, I completely messed everything up."

"Just wait until you finish trial run."

I laugh. "Sure, so I can start doing real missions? No, thanks."

"Come on, you'll be fine."

We continue walking to the school parking lot.

"Hey, you need a ride?" Danny asked, noticing that my car wasn't there.

"No, my mom is going to be here soon. My little sister has soccer practice, so since I don't have my own car, I have to wait for my mom to pick me up."

"So, no license?"

"What?" I scoffed. "I do have my license. I just don't have a car."

My mom pulled up with Jayla in the backseat. "Get in sister. Mommy's making spaghetti and my stomach is hungry." Jayla said

"I guess that's my cue." I said.

"Hi, Mrs. Peterson. Hi, Jayla." Dannys said and waves.

"Hi Danny. If you want spaghetti, get in now. If not, see ya." Jayla said

Danny looked in confusion.

"She's hungry. Just ignore her." I confirmed.

He laughed. "School Monday. I'm driving." Danny said walking to his car.

"I am a licensed driver you know?" I responded.

"Yeah, right." Danny said as we drove off.
