"Danny?" I said turning back to face him.
"How long was I out?" He asked.
"Three weeks."
He looked at me, stunned.
"And four days and ten hours."
"Did we get the necklace?"
"No. But the others didn't get it either. It's still at the place."
"Well, we better get ready. They'll be sending us back out soon so-"
"Danny." I stopped him. "I'm not going back out there."
"Is this because of what happened to me?"
"No. Yes?" I sighed. "I don't know. I just can't go back out there."
"Okay, then I'll go."
"No way. You just woke up."
"Well, someone has to get it."
"There are so many others at the academy. Don't worry, they'll get it."
"It has to be me."
"Why?"
He hesitated. "I can't fail."
"Danny-" I start before the door opens.
"You're awake." The nurse said. "Good. I need to go over a few things with you. Can we have a minute?" She asked me.
"Yeah, sure." I said.
I left the hospital that afternoon not knowing whether Danny would walk out the moment I left or not, but I knew I had to figure something out, and soon.
