They were sitting in the mandap while the priest was chanting the mantras.

"Ab kanya ki maang mein sindoor bharein," the priest said, making Arthur look at her as he took the vermillion with a coin.

( Now, fill the bride's parting with vermilion )

"Bhardu?" he asked, making her glare at him deadly. He gulped slightly and carefully put the vermillion in her hair partition.

( should I? )

She glared at him again with a pout, making him confused.

"What now?" Arthur asked, raising an eyebrow.

"The vermillion didn't fall on my nose. I don't want a loveless marriage," she replied with a dramatic sigh.

Arthur stared at her for a second, then took the whole small bottle filled with vermillion and dropped it carefully on her nose - making sure it didn't go inside her eyes.

"Happy?" he said, dusting off the extra vermillion that had fallen on her cheeks and lips.

"Ohh moii gawdd, this much love in my married life?! Ohh God," Shrayn said dramatically, making him shrug, a small smile tugging at his lips.

As the mantras continued, a few more rituals took place, and finally, the priest said:

"Aaj se aap dono pati-patni hai. Ab bado ka ashirwad le lijiye."

( From now on, you both are husband-wife. Now take blessings of your elders. )

The words hit Shrayn like a bolt. She pressed her lips together, the realization sinking in - she was leaving her home... maybe forever?

"Mrs. Raizada," Arthur whispered with a smirk.

"Hurry up. We have to leave for our home after this," Arthur said, standing up and offering his hand to her. She took it and stood up too.

They took blessings from the Raizada family first and then moved to the Gill family.

Shrayn hugged her dadu tightly.

"Take care, hmm? And if anybody messes with you, you know well how to take care of the mess, right?" Gurdas said, patting her head fondly.

Shrayn smiled and looked at her dadi and bebe, who were silently crying.

"Offo dadi, bebe, don't cry naa! Otherwise, I'll start crying too and my makeup will get ruined. And aren't you both happy? Finally, I'm leaving - no more screaming at me every day!" Shrayn said dramatically, wiping their tears.

"Hatt, pagal!" they both said, making everyone chuckle.

"What, bebe? I'm going, yaar! You can't call me idiot anymore - I'm the bride now, I have some reputation!" Shrayn said, widening her eyes, making Guruka hit her head lovingly.
