Leidi
I couldn't sleep last night. I kept thinking of that man. His agony. His sadness. Silenced.
Justice, was what Thor called it. But it was far from justice. No one deserves that. Not even someone who can take a life.
I've been tortured as well, but now, I feel as though that was nothing. The tears I spilled my cries and screams, couldn't compare to him. All he needed was a chance.
When the sun had started to rise, the thread of sleep had already tugged me in.
Thor held his face in one hand, and a threaded needle in the other. Tears spilled from Thor's eyes as the man cried out in pain for the last time.
I shot forward to stop him. But my feet remain planted. I scream for him to stop. He does and looks at me.
The next minute, I'm bound by his grip and he clutches my face. I struggle and scream for help. But no one moves.
The other man's mouth is already stitched and he's struggling against the guards. I open my mouth wide and scream. The needle pokes through my upper lip, then through my lower lip. I writhe in pain as it tightens, sealing a part of my mouth.
The other man opens his mouth and rips through the thread, his blood dripping from his mouth. He yells, "Leidi!" "Loki!" His name tears from my mouth as my mouth is sealed.
I wake up, sweaty and breathless. Tears spill from my eyes. I put my hand on my mouth and sigh with relief. No thread. My mouth can open.
Loki. That must be his name. I look out of the window. The sun has risen completely. But my heart sank into the depths. I need to see Loki again, but without Thor.
"Leidi? Wake up it's almost time for breakfast," Thor knocks my door. I'm not hungry, and I don't have the strength to answer him. "Leidi," Thor opens the door.
I look up at him and he notices my tears. "Leidi, what happened?" He says, brushing the tears from my cheeks. "I had a nightmare. No big deal," I say in a small voice. "Would you like to talk about the nightmare?" I shake my head.
"I'll get dressed," I say. Thor nods and leaves me alone. I wear a green gown. One that matches my eyes. It has gold and black embroidery.
I just can't seem to pry my mind from Loki. If that's even his name. I need to see him again. I don't know why.
I brush down my hair and force a smile on my face. Thor offers me his arm and I take it. He leads me to the dining hall.
I sit between Thor and Volstagg who tells me the tale of the many enemies he's caught. "They are all beneath me!" He exclaimed. "If they were beneath you," Fandral remarked, "they'd be flattened."
I snicker at Fandral's words. Volstagg looks at him with disapproval, "I could snap you like a twig." "Try me," Fandral challenged.
"Do not fight," Thor says, "or I will tie you together." Volstagg glares at Thor before looking at me again, "You know, Thor had once dressed as Freyja." "Why?" I looked between Thor and Volstagg, amused.
"His brother made him," Hogun chuckles. Thor looks uncomfortable. "Who's his brother?" I look among them, a grin creeping across my face at the thought of Thor in a dress. "Loki," Fandral says, through laughter.
My stomach drops. So Loki did exist. But how could Thor have done that to his own brother? It doesn't make sense. Still, I do not allow my grin to falter. "How come I've never met him?" I ask, innocently.
I have met him. But they can't know. And Thor doesn't know I know his name. Everyone goes silent. Well, the Warriors Three, Sif, and Thor go silent. Everyone else keeps talking. They look uncomfortable.
My grin falters as they look at me solemnly. "What?" I ask. Volstagg puts a hand on my shoulder and whispers in my ear, "We'll tell you some other time." I nod, confused.
Why can't they tell me here? What are they hiding from me. Obviously I'm missing a link. "Were you spotted? Dressed as Freyja?" I turn to Thor, dropping the subject of Loki. "Yes," he chuckles, "And Thrym was enraged."
After breakfast, we went to the courtyard, where we practiced sword fighting. Fandral was glad to have a sparring partner for once but he soon regretted it.
I knocked the sword out of Fandral's hand and push him down, pointing my sword at him again. "That's the 17th time Fandral? Are you going easy on her?" Thor laughs. "Yeah. This is lame. Can you at least try?" I whine.
Fandral chuckles as I help him up. "Very well," he says. We get ready to go again, and Fandral disarms me within 5 minutes.
He swings the sword at me, about to pin me, when I grab the blade and twist it from his grasp. I throw it up and catch it by the handle before knocking Fandral down again and pinning him once more.
Thor laughs as Fandral flushes crimson. "You need more practice my friend," he says. "You're a natural," Volstagg ruffles my hair. I smooth it down. We return the practice swords to the rack and head inside for lunch.
