What Should've Been

Minerva and Virgo were both sent away as Lisanna sat in front of the blonde.

"Lucy?"

The blonde had her eyes shut. She was having a hard time breathing and was quickly losing her strength to live. She had been given water while she had been here but nothing more. Lisanna was cruel but wasn't about to let the blonde die from dehydration.

"Lucy. Speak to me, Lu... please...."

Slowly, the blonde raised her head, cracking her eyes open slightly. The white haired girl was sitting on the ground in front of her. She had a laptop in her lap as she watched the blonde.

"Lucy. You're awake. Good. How are you feeling?"

She was being nice? Lucy stayed quiet, refusing to believe that after everything Lisanna would be nice to her. It was trick. It had to be.

"Lu? Did the witch cut out your tongue or do you not want to talk to me...?"

Lucy still refused to say anything. She even glanced back down to the ground so she wouldn't have to look at her face. She sounded exactly like she did when they were friends..

"Lucy... you may want to look at this~"

She shook her head, not looking up at the white haired girl. Lisanna seemed desperate to have her see what she wanted her to though. She grabbed a handful of the blonde's hair and angled her head to the laptop's screen. On the screen was a picture of Lucy's mother. Layla was covered in blood and her eyes were glazed open.

"She's dead."

So many of her friends had died already and now Lisanna had taken her own mother. Tears threatened to fall but the girl wouldn't let them fall.

"She's dead..."

Lucy glanced at Lisanna to see tears falling down her face. It was an act. It had to be. She had killed her mother.

"Don't act, Lisanna... I know you killed her... th--"

"I didn't, you fool!!"

"Than how do you explain my dead mother on the screen?!?!"

"Y-your.... the man who once said I love you to her... he did it... I couldn't hurt Layla... she was like a mother to me... I'm sorry Lucy..."

The blonde blinked. Lisanna had really said "I'm sorry" to her. Or at least that's what she wanted Lucy to think. The blonde's head was released as Lisanna picked up the laptop and walked over to the door.

"I know you don't believe me, Lu... but I am sorry about your mother."

Lucy was dumbfounded. She wasn't sure if she should believe her. Lisanna was a top actress but she had a horrible time faking tears. Either she had become better or... Lisanna was really sorry about Lucy losing her mother. The white haired girl gave a loud sigh before facing the blonde, a smirk on her face.

"Just because of this doesn't mean I don't want you dead any less. You will die."

There she is. There's the Lisanna Lucy had know the past few months.

Erza sat on a chair with Gray and Kenzy standing off to the side. Natsu was on the bed, still sleeping. There wasn't many people left. Just today, she had found out that both Loke and Layla had both died.

"What the hell are we suppose to do, Erza?"

The red haired girl shook her head. She was at a loss of words. She had no idea what to do. Lisanna was picking them off one by one and to be honest Erza was dumbfounded. Natsu wouldn't let them hear the end of it if they went to save Lucy without him. Not like they could go anyway. Only Natsu knew where her dad's house was. Especially now that Layla was dead.

"Erza!"

"Gray! Just stop! I don't know what to do right now! We.... we just have... to wait..."

"What? And watch every one we know die? Wait until it's just us and no one else?! Erza we can't just wait around and do nothing!!"

"Gray... there isn't a thing we can do at the moment... we just have... to... just a while longer... I'm sorry, Gray...."

The blackette growled before storming out of the room. The smaller brunette watched him go quietly before glancing back at Erza. The red head frowned and glanced at the pinkette on the bed.

"I don't know what to do..."

"You shouldn't always have to know what to do all the time... when the time is right, you'll know what we should do. I'll go and find Gray. Get him to calm down and all that. You just stay here and keep Natsu safe... alright?"

The red head barely nodded. She was slowly losing everything she loved.
