Run Away

Chapter 19

I saw it was 10:20pm, so I got off my bed, and walked to my bedroom door. I slowly opened it, hoping it wouldn't make any noise. Once it was opened enough for me to slip through, I peaked my head out making sure Mr. Felton wasn't coming. I squeezed through the tiny opening, then slowly and quietly closed the door. I checked one last time, and when I saw no one coming, I knew I was good to go.
I tiptoed down the stairs, stopping every now and again making sure Mr. Felton wasn't coming. It was only 10 minutes after, I had made it to Zach's room. I quietly tapped on the door. Right away the door opened, and Zach pulled me in.
"Did he see you?" Zach whispered, closing the door.
"No." I whispered back.
"Good. Now follow me."
I followed Zach, who surprisingly, lead me to a blank wall.
"What's this?" I asked, laughing a bit.
"You can laugh all you want Kendall, but don't doubt it just because it looks ordinary."
"What will it take us into a whole new secret room?" I asked, making fun of him slightly.
He gave me the 'Take a look and see' kind of look. I immediately stopped laughing, and gave him my full attention.
"Okay Zach, what's so special about this wall?" I asked, serious this time.
He smiled, glad I was taking him seriously. "Well earlier, I was tapping the wall and singing."
"Okay, this is important because?" I motioned for him to continue.
"Because, this is what happens."
He tapped on the wall a few times, and whispered something I couldn't quite hear. The wall revealed a door for us to open.
"And then this happened," Zach started. "So out of curiosity, I opened it."
"What happened?" I interrupted.
"This." He opened the door. Inside was a whole new room. Even bigger than the room Mr. Felton gave us.
"Whoa." I whispered in amazement.
"I know. Now follow me."
Zach walked right in, but since the door was small, he had to bend down. I followed him in, seeing that the room was even bigger than what I thought.
I was able to stand up straight again, and took a closer look at the room. Around me, I saw there was old wooden floor, with old red walls. There was a staircase that lead upstairs, and one that lead downstairs. There were 2 single beds, a couch, a tv, a book case, and a whole bunch of other random stuff.
"There's more." Zach said.
He led me to the staircase that went up, and after walking up for 5 minutes, we came to another small door.
"Open it." He whispered.
I slowly opened the door, and saw it lead into my room. I walked in, and saw my secret door was on the right side of my bed.
"Can I open this door from here?" I asked.
"You should be able to. Just follow these steps; tap in the middle, left, top, bottom, right, bottom, bottom, middle, top, and whisper Aperi Mihi Ostium."
"What song were you singing?" I asked, wondering where those lyrics would've come from as they did not sound like English.
"Just open it already." Zach said, laughing a bit.
I did as he said, and it worked.
"Good. Now one more thing you should know. If you say; 'Luminum' the lights will turn on and off. Got that?"
"I say 'Aperi Mihi Ostium' and tap on the wall to open the door and 'Luminum' to turn the lights on and off."
"Good. Now let's go to-"
"Someone's coming, hide!" I whispered.
Zack opened the door, closing it behind me. It quickly faded away, looking like an ordinary wall. I jumped into bed, got under the blankets, and whispered 'Luminum' turning the lights off. We managed to do this within seconds, and as the door creaked open I pretended to be half awake.
"Kendall?" The lights turned on.
"What?" I managed to groan, and turn onto my back.
"Have you seen Zach?"
"I've been sleeping." I moaned.
"Oh right, well uh he wasn't in his room. Do you know where he could be?"
"He probably went to the bathroom."
"Oh." He said, as if a brilliant idea came to mind. "Your right. I never checked that. Well I'll uh go make sure he's okay."
I watched him walk away to the door.
"Good night Char- I mean uh Kendall."
"Good night." I said, and pretended I went back to sleep.
I waited a minute to make sure he was gone, then hopped out of bed, saying 'Luminum'. In that time Zach popped out from the hidden door.
"What are you doing? He thinks your in the bathroom!" I whispered to Zach.
"I know, but didn't you notice, he almost called you Charlie?"
"Do you think that really matters to me right now? Just go, he'll be there soon!" I pushed Zach through the door, and closed it.
I got back into bed, whispering 'Luminum' and layed down. I didn't have much on my mind, besides the fact that Mr. Felton had almost called me Charlie. It hadn't bothered me until Zach pointed it out. Why did he call me Charlie? Did I remind him of someone else?
The thought slipped away as I fell asleep.

Alright so here's another chapter for you all! I didn't think I would get this chapter out tonight, but I managed to get it done. :) This will probably be the last chapter for tonight as I want to make the next chapter a lot longer! I'll start that tonight (probably), so I can get it done for sometime tomorrow.

Also comment what you think 'Aperi Mihi Ostium' and 'Luminum' means! (They might not be exactly right as I used Google Translate, sorry about that.)
