Sunoo and Jungwon weaved their way through the park, laughter spilling from their lips as they dashed toward the carousel—the first ride they’d set their sights on.
With a bright grin, Sunoo mounted a glimmering white steed, while Jungwon chose the sleek black horse beside him, both shining under the midday sun.
The carousel spun to life slowly, accompanied by the soft chime of lullaby-like music. The ornate horses began to bob rhythmically, catching golden beams of sunlight.
Laughter floated between them, light and carefree, as the ride began to move. The world outside blurred in slow circles—rows of game booths, clusters of balloons, children with cotton candy in hand.
Sunoo leaned forward, pretending to race the other horses, while Jungwon played along, urging his horse onward like a knight on a quest.
But, neither of them were aware of the two figures standing just outside the ride’s boundary, partially concealed behind a snack stand.
One leaned casually against the stall, arms crossed, eyes fixed lazily on his smaller companion, while the other stood upright, gaze sharp and locked on the two boys riding the carousel.
“See? They’re having so much fun. You’re just worried for nothing,” the taller one said, his tone laced with casual reassurance.
The smaller one frowned, stealing a glance at him. “It’s just the beginning. How can you say for sure? I’ll have to keep an eye on them until they go back home.”
"Are you serious, Jake? We're really going to keep spying on them like this the whole time? People are already giving us strange looks. Honestly, some have been staring since we entered the park," the taller one said, clearly uncomfortable.
"Oh, shut up, Jay! No one is staring at us. It's just your paranoia acting up," the shorter one snapped, trying to stay focused.
Just then, a little kid walking by with his mother pointed at them and exclaimed, "Mommy, mommy, look! They look weird!"
"Shh! Don’t point at people like that," the mother whispered, hurriedly pulling her son away.
Jay turned to Jake with a deadpan look. "See? Told you. It’s your fault for making us wear this ridiculous disguise," he grumbled, tugging at his curly wig, adjusting his oversized glasses, and glaring through his black mask.
Jake scoffed. "Excuse me? If we don’t disguise ourselves, what if they recognize us? So stop whining and let me focus on them."
Jay crossed his arms. "Only if you hadn’t blackmailed me with Heeseung’s baby photos, I wouldn't even be here right now," he muttered under his breath.
"I heard that!" Jake snapped, clearly offended. "And for your information, I didn’t want to bring you either! If Sunghoon wasn’t busy helping at his dad’s company, you wouldn’t have been my last resort!"
"Oh really? Then why didn't you ask Heeseung or Niki? If you hated the idea of me accompanying you so much?" Jay shot back.
Jake let out an exasperated sigh.. "You know very well that Heeseung hyung would never have agreed to this. And Niki? He’d be too busy dragging me to every ride in the park to even care about the mission. That left only you. So, now shut your mouth and let me concentrate, alright?" He snapped, leaving Jay momentarily speechless.
