The next day, the trio went to school together, as both Jake and Heeseung had spent the previous night at Sunoo's.
Once they reached the hallway to Sunoo's classroom, the two older boys bid him farewell and headed to their classes on the top floor.
Even though Sunoo was now standing outside his classroom, he hesitate to go inside, as memories of his conversation with Jungwon from the previous night kept running through his mind.
Flashback ~
"Kim Sunoo," Jungwon said with a devilish smirk on his face.
"I am sorry!"
Sunoo suddenly apologized before Jungwon could say anything.
"What?" Jungwon asked, confused.
"I'm just... sorry for whatever happened seven years ago," Sunoo apologized again, keeping his head low, afraid to meet the younger's eyes.
"Sorry? You think just a sorry is enough?" Jungwon asked, trying to control his anger.
"No." Sunoo shook his head. "Of course not! I know that my apology can't change anything that's happened. But I still want to apologize. I understand why you're angry at me, and if you want to curse at me, go ahead. You can even hit me if that's what you want," he said without really thinking.
"Whoa, whoa. Hit you? What do you even think of as, Kim Sunoo?" Jungwon replied, sounding offended.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking about what I was saying. I didn't mean to offend you," Sunoo apologized again.
"Sorry this, sorry that. I am honestly so tired of hearing your apologies, Kim Sunoo," Jungwon said, his tone clearly annoyed.
After Jungwon said that, an awkward silence fell between the two. Sunoo didn't know what else to say apart from apologizing for everything that had happened. So, he simply waited, hoping Jungwon would say something-anything.
"You know, Kim Sunoo," Jungwon finally broke the silence, his voice calm yet heavy with emotion. "Sometimes, I do think about forgiving you and being friends again."
Hearing those words, Sunoo's face lit up with hope. Jungwon was considering forgiveness-did this mean he had a chance to be forgiven and rekindle their friendship?
But that hope was quickly shattered when Jungwon continued.
"But my heart just can't do it, it's not that easy you see." Jungwon said, his voice trembling slightly. "I just don't know how to forgive-
"I will do anything!"
Sunoo suddenly blurted, cutting Jungwon off before he could finish.
"What?" Jungwon asked, feigning surprise.
"I will do anything for you to forgive me. So, please, can you consider forgiving me and letting go of the past?" Sunoo pleaded, hoping for a chance to rekindle their friendship.
Meanwhile, Jungwon was secretly smiling in victory. Things were actually going as he wanted it to be and he didn't even had to do anything.
"Really? You’ll do anything for me to forgive you, Kim Sunoo?" Jungwon asked again, wanting to be sure.
"Yes," Sunoo confirmed without hesitation.
Hearing that, Jungwon smiled to himself but kept his expression neutral. He pretended to think for a moment before saying, "Alright. If you’re saying so, I’ll *consider* forgiving you."
Sunoo stared at Jungwon in surprise. Was this real? Did Jungwon really say that?
"But," Jungwon added, his tone firm, "I’ll first see how sincere you are—your words and your actions. Only then will I decide if I should forgive you. Is that a deal?"
Sunoo felt a pang of disappointment but quickly brushed it aside. It was still better than nothing, right? If he worked hard enough, he could earn Jungwon's forgiveness.
"Okay. It’s a deal," Sunoo agreed.
"Okay then, see you tomorrow at school, Kim Sunoo," Jungwon said nonchalantly, though inside he was feeling victorious.
"Oh, and let's keep this deal just between us, okay?" Jungwon said.
"Okay! I won't tell anyone, don't worry," Sunoo reassured him.
With that, Jungwon walked away, feeling satisfied.
Oh, if only Sunoo knew what he had gotten himself into.
~End of Flashback~
While lost in thought, he didn’t realize he was blocking the way until someone snapped him out of it.
“You’re blocking the way, Kim Sunoo,” the person said.
Sunoo immediately recognized the voice and turned around to see who it was. Of course, it was none other than Yang Jungwon.
Still noticing no movement from Sunoo, Jungwon raised an eyebrow and gestured for him to step aside. That finally made Sunoo realize he was in the way.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Sunoo said, quickly stepping aside.
Jungwon walked past him but turned back before going further and said, “Oh, by the way, I hope you haven’t forgotten our deal from yesterday?”
"Of course! I remember it," Sunoo replied.
Jungwon then held out his phone towards Sunoo and said, "Here, put your number in it, so I can contact you."
Sunoo stared at the phone, dumbfounded for a moment. Was this real? Jungwon was asking for his number? It felt like a dream.
Meanwhile, Jungwon was growing impatient and rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Are you going to put your number in or not, Kim Sunoo?" he said, snapping Sunoo back to reality.
"Yes, sorr..y!" Sunoo stammered, quickly taking the phone from him to enter his number.
After typing it in, he handed the phone back. Jungwon took it and went to his seat without another word.
"Well, well, what did I just witness? Yang Jungwon exchanging phone numbers with Kim Sunoo? The person he hates? How did this happen?" Taesan, one of his friends and also his seatmate, asked.
"Well, it's none of your business. But I do need a favor from you. So will you help?" Jungwon replied.
"Hmm... depends. What do I get in return?" Taesan teased.
Jungwon scoffed and pulled out a ten thousand-won note, holding it up in front of him.
"Thanks. So, what’s the favor?" Taesan asked after snatching the note.
Jungwon smirked before telling him what he needs to do.
