The next morning, sunlight filtered softly through the classroom windows, glinting off the rows of desks. The chatter of students filled the room, but Sunoo sat quietly at his seat, chin propped on his hand as he stared absently at his notebook.

He hadn’t been able to stop thinking about the night before — about Jungwon’s calm smile, the warmth in his voice when he’d said *“Would have been lonely without you there anyway."*

Every time the words replayed in his head, his heart did that annoying flutter again.

“Earth to Kim Sunoo.”

Sunoo blinked and looked up to see Taesan standing beside his desk, one brow raised and a teasing grin tugging at his lips.

“You look like you just saw an angel or something. What’s got you spacing out this early? Or should I ask *who*?”

Sunoo looked at him and said, “What do you mean? I’m just tired, okay?”

“Oh really? Well, as you say then,” Taesan replied, his grin not fading in the slightest.

Sunoo frowned lightly. “Why are you here anyway?”

Taesan leaned against the desk beside him, arms crossed, looking far too pleased with himself. “Well, I *was* about to invite you to my birthday party, because I thought Jungwon’s shy ass would never,” he said, drawing out the words dramatically. “But then I heard from him that he already asked you to come along.”

Sunoo’s brows rose. “He told you that?”

“Mhm.” Taesan smirked, eyes gleaming with amusement. “Didn’t expect *him* to beat me to it. Guess I’ve underestimated him. Anyway, I told you before—if he asks you to come, then you know what it means, right? Still don’t wanna believe he likes you?”

Sunoo felt a small flush creep up his neck, but he tried to sound casual. “It’s not like that. He just didn’t want to go alone, that’s all.”

“Well, he could’ve asked his beloved Jay hyung too, but no.” Taesan arched a brow, smirking wider. “He chose *you*, Kim Sunoo. Come on, how long are you gonna defy it?”

Sunoo fell silent, fingers tightening slightly around his pen. Could it really mean something? Jungwon had seemed so casual when he asked him, but… there’d been that faint nervousness in his tone. That hesitant smile. The way he waited for an answer, eyes almost too expectant.

Maybe Taesan wasn’t entirely wrong.

Hey,” Taesan’s voice broke through his thoughts, softer this time but still laced with mischief. “You wanna know how to *really* find out if it’s true?”

Sunoo blinked, looking up. “How?”

Taesan leaned closer, his grin returning, and whispered near his ear, “Confess to him. At my birthday party.”

Sunoo’s eyes widened. “What?! No way—”

“Why not?” Taesan said, straightening up with a knowing look. “Perfect timing. The music, the lights, everyone distracted. Just the two of you. Trust me, you’ll get your answer right then.”

Sunoo stared at him, flustered and unsure. “You’re insane.”

Maybe,” Taesan said with a smirk, putting his hands in his pockets . “But I’m not wrong.”
