Morrigan had never cast an illusion this realistic before, but somewhere deep down, she knew she could.
She had to.
If she could make Jupiter believe she was fast asleep in bed, she could easily slip out undetected.
This was a foolish plan, but it was the only one she had.
Wunder twirled around her fingers as she started to sing.
"Morningtide's child is merry and mild." The words slowly faded, leaving her humming her tune.
The pulling in her gut became more intense as she started spinning the wunder. Moulding it into the shape of herself sleeping peacefully.
After a few minutes of avid work, Morrigan stepped back to admire her handiwork.
It wasn't perfect, but it was good enough.
She now had an hour to slip out to courage square.
Morrigan padded softly down the carpeted hallway, wincing at every squeaky floorboard. All was quiet except for the cacophony of snores coming from the guest's rooms.
As she reached the service entrance she had entered by on her first ever day in Nevermoor, a cough sounded out behind her, halting her in her tracks.
"Where do you think you're going?"
Jack.
"None of your business." Morrigan replied, turning to face the boy.
"I thought you were supposed to leave this afternoon?" She continued, inching towards the door.
"After Uncle Jove came back with you, he asked me to stay longer." Jack informed her. "He said you might make a... dumb decision." He cocked his head to the left slightly, his eyes wandering to the kitchen knife she had stuffed in her boot.
"Clearly he was right."
"Well you can't stop me." Mog says defiantly.
"I know I can't. But I can sure a heck go with you." Jack counters, pulling his sleeve up to reveal a sleek dagger, the handle shaped like a dragon's head, held in a leather sheath on his forearm.
"Guess I can't stop you..." Morrigan says slowly.
"Nope."
"Then come on, we can't be late." She says, turning once again towards the door.
"I'm coming." Morrigan breathes. "Just hang on." And hoping that in some magical way, her friends had heard her words, she sets off into the night.
