My feet barely touched the ground. I held Brett's hand tight. I was afraid if I let my grip loosen he would slip between the cracks and vanish into the moon lit night.
Giggles echoed through the forest, sending birds to all their different corners. We disturbed the wildlife on our way to one of Satomi properties.
White cloth covered everything as it did last time I was here. The only evidence of what happened was the missing chandelier. No glass, no blood. Just the distance smell of it.
"Come." Brett rushed me up the stairs.
He let go of my hand and instead pushed himself against me. He kissed me the thousand time that night, yet it did not feel enough.
He sat down on the bed while I stood in between his legs. "I have something for you."
"You do?" My voice came out more rasp than I had expected.
"It's a birthday gift."
I pushed his shoulder slightly. "You already gave me a birthday gift."
Brett had dinner with us a month ago. I voted against celebrating, but my grandmother insisted on visiting.
From the front pocket of his jeans, he pulled out a delicate ring. It reflected the moon light. More than you would expect from a such small thing. In his hand, it looked like more than just a ring. It looked real.
"It's a family heirloom. It belonged first to my great grandmother," Brett picked up my hand. "Now it will belong to you."
"Are you proposing." I chuckled.
"I'm promising. It's a promise ring."
"That's what egement rings are for."
A slug smile grew on his face. "Maybe that is what I should do."
He looked at me through his eyebrows. I got closer to his face. There where almost no space between us. He looked distorted at this distance. Brett closed his eyes.
"You are teasing." He grabbed my waist and rolled me on the dusty bed.
He kissed me. Harder than the last thousand times. More sloppy the last thousand times. I liked this gift more.

"Water me." James opened his mouth.
I opened the cap of the water bottle and splashed it on him.
"Did you pee yourself Garza?"
"Maybe I should just pee on you." James snatched Brett's water bottle.
"Hey." Brett hit the back of his newly shaved head. James spilled water on himself and looked unimpressed between us.
