Notes: You are an Ice-Seawing hybrid and you are an animus.

AND I DO NOT OWN WINGS OF FIRE

In the silence a faint noise of crickets could be heard, maybe that was what had caused you to wake up, or maybe it was just the unbearable heat from the fire that was in the middle of the campsite. Whatever the reason was you now sat up wide awake admiring the night, the stars shone beautifully in the inky black sky and the moons gleamed pale silver light. Moon's tail was still twined with yours, the sight alone made your heart bear just a little bit faster.

For a moment you wondered why any dragon would dare sleep when the night was so beautiful, especially in the Ice Kingdom. The beautiful aurora lights would illuminate the sky and dance across the landscape, and sometimes you would even be able to see comets and shooting stars. And the moons, so pale and majestically bright. You had always thought the Kingdom of Ice always looked stunning at night, especially with the gift of light, the small globes would illuminate the palace and only make the glimmering structure look magnificent. 'I wish I could do something as beautiful like that for my tribe,' you thought, but the idea of your magic being used for the worse made you rethink the thought.

'There's something wrong,'

Your ears pricked up, the voice was back, except this time it wasnt belittling you or trying to scare you, it seemed as if it was trying to warn you.

'What? What's wrong? Hello? Who are you?' You asked in your mind, hoping for a response. You were not entirely sure if the voice had always been a figment of your imagination or your own subconscious. Maybe it was something more sinister, 'You can't think like that (Y/n), it's probably just anxious thoughts,' but you knew deep down you wouldn't believe it.

'A dragon, that yellow one,' the loud voice echoed in your mind. Your head instantly snapped to the sleeping Skywing, 'What about her, she's too...weird to be up to something.'

You waited for a response, but the longer it took the madder you thought you were, 'Three moons have I gone mad? Surly I haven't cast that many spells...right?' Your front talons had begun to shake at the possibility of losing your soul, but it just didn't feel like that was the case. 'Hey!' You yelled in your mind, 'answer me you weird dragon! Who are you, and what do you mean something is wrong?'

'She has magic.¨

Now you just thought you were stupid, every dragon knew Skywings killed their animus dragons years ago as soon as they found out, unless this dragon could be a hybrid like you, that would explain her vibrant yellow scales but she also looked to be a pure blooded Skywing.

The more you thought about the situation the less things made sense, but the most logical answer you could think of at the moment was your brain was just anxious and tired so you decided to lay your head back down in hopes to get some sleep before the sun rose. As soon as your head had touched the soft grass the voice suddenly yelled. 'Go touch her and feel the magic you stupid dragonet! Must I tell you everything!'

The sudden loudness had caused you to jump, which had startled Moon in her sleep, you sat frozen hoping she wouldn't wake up and ask you why you were awake. Luckily for you she just hugged herself tighter with her wings before muttering something about toads and bananas. A sweet smile found itself onto your face and the cute action, Moon had looked so much more peaceful in her sleep. She always had a sort of anxious look on her face, but with a power like hers it made sense, 'I mean how could you not be anxious knowing what every dragon thinks of you,' you sympathised in your mind. She twitched in her sleep again when you had accidentally torn the grass out from the dirt with your talons, she really was quite an extraordinary dragon, first mind reader in ages, similar to you, first Icewing animus in ages as well.

You found yourself stuck in a fantasy where you would somehow impress Moon by doing something heroic and she would fall in love with you, then you two would run away together and get married, maybe even have dragonets, but there was someone in the background. Someone who also made you fantasize and feel happy, it was Ostrich. Of course you weren't even sure she returned the feelings you had for her; the possibility of it made you want to scream. You thought back to words Qibli had told you, ¨She doesn't do that with just anyone you know,¨ remembering those words made your heart flutter, it was from the first day of school when she had brushed her wing against your before walking away, her warmth spread from her scales to yours and had left you- 'THE SKYWING YOU IDIOT.'

The smile had left your face when the voice interrupted your thoughts, 'Right, I uh- I got distracted,' you replied to the voice only to get no response back. Slowly you stood up, careful not to hurt the bandaged wound on your right leg, you stepped forward slowly untangling your tail from Moon's. 'You can't tell me who you are or your name at least?' I asked the voice walking to the Skywing, but once again no response. You were careful to not wake the other dragons as you passed the blazing fire getting closer to were Cirrus and the Skywing laid, they slept extremely close together but not quite touching, which only made it harder to not wake anyone, it wasn't too hard to sneak around thanks to your military and guard training, but you had gotten rusty so it wasnt super silent as you had hoped.

You loomed over the female Skywing, eyeing her for any signs of being awake but her even breathing had signaled she was fast asleep, you reached your (s/c) talons out to touch her scales, ¨What are you doing?¨ Chills ran down your spine, but you quickly relaxed once you realized it was only Winter. He was standing just a couple tail lengths away from you but he was still quite close. ¨Oh! I uh- I was just uhm,¨ you stuttered out, 'quick (Y/n) think of something!'

¨You just want to look like a hero,¨ he growled, ¨with your magic, magic your dirty blood doesn't even deserve! You just want to steal Moon away and save the day,¨

¨Ẅhat? Winter it's not like tha-,¨

¨It's Prince Winter to you!¨ he snapped, ¨don't think I don't notice how you look at her,¨ Cirrus had began to stir in his sleep as Winter began to raise his voice, ¨Winter keep it down,¨ I whisper yelled at him eyeing Cirrus, ¨I said it's Prince Winter to you!¨ He yelled, slashing his claw at your face, he nicked your jaw just a bit, causing (b/c) blood to drip out. It took every ounce of self control to not use your magic or claws to to harm him, afterall attacking a member of the royal family was one of the most punishable crimes. ¨I am going to save the day (Y/n), the tribe will recognize me for saving Hailstorm, not you! Moon wouldn't want a dirty hybrid anyways,¨ he said with a grin. Tears pricked at your eyes, Winter had never spoken such foul words to you, and for some reason hearing those words from your former best friend stung more than any other dragon. Frozen in your place you watched with glossy eyes as Winter shook the female Skywing awake, yelling for her to answer what she had known about his brother, "WHERE IS HE," he yelled anger flowing off him, "WHERE IS MY BROTHER, WHAT DOES SHE WANT, ILL GET GET IT FOR HER," he growled out.

Everything word Winter spoke had sounded muffled to you, but the world had become unbearably loud when Cirrus finally woke up, "What are you doing," he said in one low but panicked growl, but it was too late. Winter had ripped the Skywings necklace off, her dark amber eyes widened in absolute terror as this happened, amber eyes that became blue in the blink of an eye. You hadn't even noticed when the rest of the dragons woke up.

Qibli tried shaking you out of your trance, and Moon held your talons, but you and Kinkajou watched as orange scales melted into white and gray, extra horns ripped through the scales and traveled down the dragon's back, the shift looking violent and painful, the loud painful shrek coming from her was what made Moon and Qibli turn towards them. Your eyes wide as you witnessed where once stood a Skywing stood an Icewing, but not just any Icewing, a prince. Prince Hailstorm.

A deep chuckle rattled inside your mind, bouncing off your skull, 'As for who I am little dragonet, I am pure evil.'
