The hallway lights were dim. After Jin insisted Kevin to get some sleep. Hoesek volunteered to stay with Kevin, not to say no one trusted that night anymore. Hoesek was sitting in the single armchair at the corner his legs up and a book in his hand. Kevin was fell asleep without a word, tightly curled up under the blanket which Hoesek tugged in.
The room was quiet at the first, until something stopped Hoesek's reading. It was a little shift at first and a low whimper.
Without a second, Hoesek stood up slowly walking to the Kevin's bedside. His head was tossing side to side. Sweat forming in the forehead and uneven breathing. His lips are just moving without a sound.
"Kevin?" Hoesek Whispered. Uncertain about next step to be taken. Kevin's grip on the blanket tightens, turning his nails in to a white color. He slowly struggled. He curled more bending his knees to his chest.
"Hey buddy, It's okay, You're safe!" Hoesek said gently placing a hand on Kevin's shoulder. Kevin flinched so hard, that Hoesek took a step back. Kevin covered his both ears and tears started to flowing from his eyes.
"Kevin! Wake up please!" Hoesek softly said. His voice wavered. To his dismay nothing happened. The silent tears flowing down his younger brothers face. Without knowing what to do anymore, Hoesek bolt out to the hallway and shouted,
"JIN HYUNG, HYUNG!" His voice echoed on the hallway. In a second Jin and Yoongi were running toward him following others. Jin quickly rushed to the bed side, kneeling down. He saw Kevin mumbling "No, No" over and over. May be J Hope's shout made the boy more scared.
"Everyone get back" Jin said in a lower voice. "Kevin, You're home buddy. You're safe." Jin said to the trembling figure beside him. "Hey Buddy, You're safe. It's safe" he continued.
"He is disoriented Hyung, He isn't here" Taehyung said worriedly, seeing his hyung who is trying to make the boy awake. Jin look back just for a second, and he again tried gently placing a hand on Kevin's shoulder. This time Kevin, open his eyes sitting down on the bed instantly. His eyes big, widened with fear and panic. He remain frozen, looking at a distance.
It is a tent that filled with smell of iron and antiseptic. Kevin was smoothing a sheet on a thin cot at a corner, just the way they told, neat and tight. An easy task. Cleaning and arranging.
"Kids" Kevin turned instantly, same for some other kids.
"Yes" They replied in a quiet yet obedient voice.
The man behind a table with a stained white coat and tired eyes. He called himself a lieutenant, Everyone did. Kevin never questioned it. Questioning made it worse. He knew it by now.
"Stay close" He said. "It's going to get bad"
It's always get bad.
Kevin just took a step back when the ground under him shuddered, following a loud boom. The dusty smoke in the distant sky. The old tent light flickered, ceiling gave out dust.
Shouts erupted just outside. The door opened. They came all at once. Wounded, Some are on back of others. The chaos started.
"Over here"
"Help him, He's bleeding" A man shouted.
Kevin was pushed forward by the lieutenant, "Pressure, Now" He barked. Kevin kneeled down beside the man whose neck was bleeding. He pressed the wound with the cloth he was given. He flinched at how fast his hands got wet.
"Don't stop, you stop he dies" lieutenant shouted. Kevin gulped hard, pressing. His hands are red. His knees are wet with the overflowing blood. The air around him thick and smell like iron. The man under him groaned, Kevin look at the face of the man. A face that is terrified with pain and fear. Kevin's eyes filled with tears.
